I can still see that vicious carve over point. I loved it. An SA opener specially bred for Adelaide Oval. If only he'd had an eye like Sehwag.

Yep, loved watching he & lehmann opening in one dayers. Not much running & possibly the heaviest opening pair for quite some time.

If I had to vote for one it would be Viv Richards

Didn't he put one from the Bradman Stand end all the way to the hill under the scoreboard, if so thats a bloody massive blow.

In his early days. Made 90-odd off 20-odd balls in one match in the Shell Shield.

Played most of his cricket for Salisbury, and a little with Port Adelaide. I think he's the highest Grade run scorer of all time, could hit a ball a country mile. I remember him belting one at Prospect Oval and they found the ball across Main North Road, and that is a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng way from the ground.

You never really appreciate good striking of a ball unless you are out there with them.

Standing behind the stumps in an Australian training session once and gee Damien Martyn his timing was pure. He was smoking the ball effortlessly over the Square leg boundary.

Ken Vowles who played for Port Adelaide and was 13th man for SA once could hurt a cricket ball too.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Was there a Bradbrook who played a long time at East Torrens? Anyone?

That's a very good point. You forget how hard the really good players strike the ball because if you're watching Test cricket, they can all hit the ball pretty well.

I was bowling to Dan Marsh in the nets a few years ago and he belted one back to me so hard, it was past me before I could even react to it. Thank goodness he didn't hit it straight back at me :)

I'd forgotten about Ken Vowles, he could really monster the ball.

It was pretty easy for Viv, batting in the nets would've been way harder. I thought you would've been around to see "The Don" live. ;)

Fastest test 100s
56 Vivian Issac Richards the Master Blaster
57 Adam GilCHRIST the most destructive left handed keeper Ive ever seen, In perth a great dig
67 Jack Gregory, who was a fast bowler in the roaring 20s, career ended when he tried to catch Larwood caught + Bowled
69 Shivarene Chanderpaul , I saw that dig and run chase, sensational
70 Chris Gayle. amazing innings on the Perth Road
71 Roy Fredericks, wagged school to see that dig, perhaps the best of all after facing Lillie and co.

All WI/AU batsman, no coincidence the 2 teams have dominated the latter parts of the 20th century[Except for Jacks ton]

Heres a couple of blasts from the pasts

NAZAR[PA] made a scintilating ton in only 557 minutes
MCGLEW [SA] a blistering ton in only 545 minutes

Would be interested to know the fastest tons in
Test matches for each individual ton for each nation
