Pitches look pretty slow so it might be decent practice for SL

Staggering we could be so far off with Finch opening up and being 9th out for a pretty good score. It's a very sorry scorecard and one that screams out for Smith to show his class. Even get the feeling Khawaja sees an overs limitation and imagines he has to go super hard to get his runs when he could be patient and get things going either way. Just for the balance of the side, we need a middle order bat who loves these situation and if Smith isn't it, I don't know what he's going to do in there. M. Marsh a waste of space. Not good enough to bat that high or to replace a bowler I reckon, just a compromise and when conditions are tough and you need that 6th or 7th batter, or 4th or 5th bowler to actually be good he is no better than a tail ender/part timer.

I expect Marsh or Maxwell to be dropped and George Bailey to come in and bat at number 5 in the next match.

Australia v South Africa this morning, I'm just doing a score check. Australia 1/106- Warner 77 from 77, Khawaja 14 from 23.

3 changes to the side for this match- Bailey, Faulkner and Starc in. Maxwell, Coulter-Nile and Lyon out

Just got up to see the end. SA bowled out for 252, Australia win by 36 runs. Warner exceptional once again and good for Khawaja and Smith to get some runs as they've been a bit scratchy. Starc 3/43, Zampa 3/52 and Hazlewood 3/52.

Warner 109 from 120, is named man of the match. That's his 6th ODI century and 1st outside of Australia.

Not sure that was the case Jim, poor light and strange pitch would have made it difficult to "get in" on

Whatever the case it's just another one to add to their classic list of finding a way to lose

Not much else he could try and do, I hope he isn't being judged by the selectors too harshly on this one.

I didn't even know that he was in the squad.

Yeah was that stage of the innings where he had to go big so hopefully the selectors understand that.

His forte is building an innings and then going boom when he gets to 30+.

I think that's a little harsh, the captaincy probably has forced him to hold more value on his wicket whereas early on in his career his flamboyancy was what put him in the spotlight.
Usman's 98 off 123 was hardly any better FWIW, one of them should have grown some balls a little earlier in the piece.
