I just wish he'd go back to 4 where he belongs, or at least 5. You will struggle to win games whilst your best batsman is going in at 6. I can understand his theory in batting 6, but it's a luxury we can ill afford. I'd also like to see Cosgrove opening.

SA 4/73 Borgas 10 Lehmann 24

Come on Boof, tear em a new one. You can't have Boof carrying the middle order for the Redbacks forever. Stats would tend to suggest that has delivered above and beyond the call of duty in his career. It's time some young blood stepped up.

Exactly right REB. SA now 4/96 with Lehmann 47n.o. It's not a good sign when the teams total is on 96 the number 6 batsman has all but half the score.

4/102. As long as England remain in the field I'm happy. They've only had one innnings on tour so far in the long format of the game. Go Boof.

BOOF run out on 99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BLOODY HELL!!!!!!!! its a pity really he could have just batted and batted and batted and made the POMS enjoy the HEAT in the field, because i dont think BORGAS was going anywhere down the other end.

Having seen the first session today I have come up with
a new batting order for South Australia.
LEHMANN must bat 2 spots higher.
ELLIOTT must bat 11 spots lower.

SA 7/247
EG 1/24

A sensible declaration by Lehmann opening up a ludicrous 3 day game
SA 4/25 early, Elliott making one of his highest scores this year in the p/cup[11]
Harris[10] Cosgrove[1] and Ferguson a first ball[0]
Then the master and the apprentice show a magnificent 167 run unison between
Lehmann[99] run out ..what happened ?... and FUTURE TEST player Borgas [73]
Lehmann was good pre lunch toady gone is the thrashing machine of yesteryear
he is now an industrious magicianal player with dept touches, glides and is the
ultimate caresser of a cricket ball.
Borgas has a sturdy defence, but can explode at times, who plays each ball on
its merit and is circumspect in his batting....and can smash when required.

England had 6 overs to negiotiate and TAIT got STRAUSS out for a 2 ball [0] LBW.
Strauss, not Pieterson or Flintoff is the big wicket Australia need to get this year.

Harmison pulled out with a thigh strain.
Watson pulled a hammy in Perth
Martyn out with an elbow injury

Hmn interesting times first test.

Boof 99 run out , what happened ?

I understand the theory behind Boof batting 6. I understand it, but sure as hell disagree with it. Boof may think that by "sacrificing" himself down the order he is in some way benefiting the team. However, all it is really doing is depriving SA from having a match winning batsman batting in the prime spot. For my money, Boof is still one of the premier No. 4 batsmen in Australia, if not the world, and yet we find him batting 6 in a team that is struggling in the top order.

At the moment, I would like to see Boof move up to 4 and get Cosgrove to open. I've always regarded him a better opener than middle order batsman anyway. I would keep Elliott for the time being but he would need to make some runs very soon.

Top order:
Cosgrove
Elliott
Borgas
Lehmann
...... then work out the rest later.

On the subject of Cosgrove, I was going to start another thread titled "Cosgrove .. the new Lehmann". However, it wasn't going to be as complimentary as it would seem. I can look ahead 10 years and see Cosgrove, captain of SA, batting at 6, a shit load of SA runs, and very few appearances for Australia.

Why? Because he obviously has the talent but not the dedication to do all the things necessary to ensure Test Selection. Boof made 1,000 runs for SA (and Victoria) year in, year out and yet could not win a Test cap. The reason? The selectors thought him to be overweight and therefore not working hard enough on his game.

Cossy, you cannot tell me that your current physical condition is the very best you can do. Last year the SA selectors were thrilled you lost 5kg when you should have lost at least 15. All was forgiven when you began making big scores. However, the TEST selectors will not be in a hurry to choose a player with your lack of physical condition. Do something, and do it NOW!!!

mal says boof to bat 2 spots higher which i entirely agree with that infact i thought that at the nsw game, as for elliott well mal your being lenient he is a liability at the moment his fielding is ordinary & they got him to sa to STRENGHTHEN the top order batting at the SAME TIME the state was/is REBUILDING my point is how do you rebuild with a bloke that was/is well over 30yo we may as well get mal himself back playing !!!!

Hoggard was on a hat trick when he got his 2nd and 3rd wicket.
Should have see the field after Tait got the wicket in the first over.
All but the bowler behind the batsman. It was Keeper, 8 normal slips and a leg slip.

Hoggard had to wait for a drinks break and then had to get his
hattrick by getting Boof Lehmann out.
His 2 wkts were from his previuos over.
The birdbrain bowled Boof a bouncer

RODROOSTER as for me coming back...NO
It would pay for cricketers all over the world to retire this year
so they can say they retired the same year as I did.

Well i might just do that. I've played 1 game this year but it really hurt. I want to keep playing but despite being relatively young my body doesn't agree unfortunately. I am trying to organise to open the batting with my best mate on Dec. 16. I hope this happens and if so will be a great last game.
