Poms have no clue.
Why is one of the best bowlers in world cricket going around the wicket and bowling 2ft wide of the stumps to Smith?

They have conceeded that they have no idea on how to get him out so probably just trying to restrict the damage he could do.

Root should just pack up his stumps and crew and go home, half of them don't even look interested out there

Just bowl consistently at the top of off to Smith. Surely you have to back your bowlers in and attack him especially early in his innings.
Forget who it was but early in the series one of the commentators on Triple M said that one of Smith’s best qualities is the ability to convince bowlers they need to bowl wide of the stumps to him. It’s so true, they are too scared to attack him and just seem happy to try and contain him

South Africa v India Test Day 1
314 runs for the loss of 13 wickets on a pitch that had a bit in it for the bowlers
Now thats Entertaining TEST cricket where there's an EVEN battle between bat and ball UNLIKE the Boring Garbage cricket that the Meb and Sydney Tests have produced on Lifeless Dead Pitches.
I love my cricket but ya stick the Aussie Tests where the sun doesn't shine if they continue down the path of playing on these concrete slabs.

Not sure how much of that test you watched JJ but small ground, fast outfield due to drought restrictions and plenty of half volleys bowled

In saying that the first day here was boring as batshit but improved yesterday and today

They were mentioning on the radio earlier the water shortage is getting that bad that they may run out of water by March. The Indian players have been told they can only have 2min showers after play.

Both Curran and Crane denied their first wickets by no balls.

Rather than crap pitches I think a fair chunk of the bowling has been ordinary. Too much short pitched, wide bowling rather than pitched up at off stump continuously asking questions. Reckon I could count on my hands the number of Yorkers bowled in the series so far.

Again he fails to go on with it, when will he start converting these innings into big ones?

Don’t the Indians uses baths so they can drink their own bath water after? ;)

I must say I was thinking some less than PC thoughts when I posted that.

Thats assuming the 3rd umpire deemed he wasnt playing a shot. Hit outside off.
Who makes that call, the 3rd umpire or the one on the ground?

Good question

Field umpire gave it not out so I would think it would be their call on whether the batsman played a shot

My thoughts were he was not playing a shot. I also assume the third umpire makes that decision.
