Good call RM,, Rampan goes 2nd ball, off stump knocked backed by Johnson

6/251, Windies may well regret batting so slow for the last 2 hours

surely delcare now, you may hit another 10-20 runs or put the Aussies in for 3 overs you make take 1 wicket which would be invaluable. No guts no glory.

Be interested to hear from the following posters about now  ;)

Choccies wrote:Quote from the online commentator on cricinfo......

"I'm going to get flamed for this, but Gayle is a hack and should be removed as captain. What kind of idiot, who should be a mentor and role model for his young players, plays so carelessly and so selfishly? What good is a test opener with 150+ strike rate if he averages only 30-odd. Strip him of his captaincy, put him back down to no.6 (at best), and let some talent lift the team. Better yet, leave him in T20 - he's just embarrassing himself here."

whufc wrote:Just a thought Windies for the next test should drop Gayle make Chanderpaul captain and have the batting order like this.

1. A.Barath
2. T.Dowlin
3. R.Sarwan
4. S.Chanderpaul (c)
5. D.Bravo
6. B.Nash
7. D.Ramdin (wk)

At least that batting line up would have a bit of heart in it and could rely on inspiration from their captain. At worse they may atleast bat a fair bit of time, which would put more pressure on the Aussies when batting.

RoosterMarty wrote:Now he's gone! Bowled by Hauritz, lovely bowling but pretty ordinary shot. Superb innings by Bravo though.

Seriously get rid of Gayle and bring someone else in, the rest of the team are showing a bit of fight here but not helped by their "captain".

not a bad effort from the no. 11 to get to 40 off 66, he should bat ahead of gayle

another intriguing day of test cricket. Interesting to note that from the windies scorecard, only one player was able to pass thirty. Is this an indication of poor batting or a pitch that was slowing up alot, not quite sure yet. Hope that big Benn is prepared for the biggest day of his test career tomorrow, it is going to be another good day of cricket.

He got a hard knock right on the foot at the end of play today. Im not sure if he was playing it up to eat up time this evening or not. But if it did hurt him he will pull up terrible tomorrow. And that would hurt them badly. 53 overs in th first dig and then a bad crunch on the foot will make things hard for him. I for one hope he digs deep and bowls another 40 overs, I really think hes going to cause some issues tomorrow if he can get up for it.

The blow he copped was flush on his right foot. That would be very very sore even if there is no fracture or break. It's also his front foot so that will make it even tougher for him. He could be in a bit of strife i reckon.

So you want to give Australia 95 overs to make 289 runs on a reasonably good pitch?

I am sure Australia would be delighted with that

What a great Test it has been so far.
Windies have been level pegging, if not slightly in front, for most of it. Just the one really bad session, that being the last one on day to when Watson and Katich got away from them.
Reckon the Windies would have been looking for another 20 runs for a lead of 315. Will they bat for 3-4 overs in the morning? Could that depend on if the conditions are overcast like this arvo?
Thought there may have been a little more aggression in their batting in the last hour, although all through the day just as they were getting on top they would lose another wicket -the pitch perhaps isn't all that easy too bat on, in which case they may feel they have enough runs. Bollinger bowled well which probably stifled their plans a bit.
Gayle, Bravo and Nash deserve credit for standing up after ordinary displays in Brisbane.
Does anyone know anything about a young quick they have, Tonge, who they thought was going to play in this test. Could he add something to their attack in Perth, with Roach and Benn - left-arm spinners seem to have useful records in Perth, especially considering it is the one place where Warne found it hard to bowl.
This test series isn't over by a long shot.
