Yeah hearing "oiiiiiii" after every single delivery is ******* annoying. Nothing is said though, if we appeal then we get slammed worldwide.

After goodness knows how many years, we have a test series that involves a team not having a "0" against it's name.

With all the fuss and hoo hah, it's great to say Australia are in a really competitive series, leading 2-1 after three.

Unfortunately it's been a fantastic series marred by all sorts of issues both technical and racial.

Let's not forget, it's the series that we've wished for for years - maybe since the Ashes in 05.

Great win by the Indians, up against it and in Perth too. Sensational victory against the odds.

Bring on Adelaide!

I wonder how many times we have lost in Perth to anyone other than the West Indies or England?

Would this be India's first win there?

Cant be my worst, hes already failed twice already.
He is suspect against spin.
And good international attacks will get him out cheaply too often.

The difference between Jaques + Rogers is when both get set Jaques.
can score quickly, whereas Rogers grinds.
In Test cricket if you dont have some strong scoring shots you will struggle.

He is 30 years old, and might not get an opportunity until Haydo retires
or if Jaques loses form
So he will be about 32 by then [ as Smithy says as well ]
Poor investment

Just a few quotes about Chris Rogers.

DAVID BOON on advising CR
" Just remember, we think of you as a bloke who could bat all day for Austalia."

CR DAD ON GETTING THE BAGGY GREEN
" Truimph for the battler."

CR DAD
" When he scored runs he did it so in ones and twos."
" No one thought he was the next superstar."
" He was never a big flashy hitter but hes got an inner strength that you need to get to the top."

STUART MACGILL ONCE GAVE CR THIS GOBFUL
" You cant bat, when are you going to play a shot? your not a batsman."

I have stated the guy has no shots for test level and will struggle

How many whinges have the Indians had since the win? :-k
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

A former Test player and selector backs Rogers to bat all day. Clearly he has no future at Test level as he failed during his first test.

These quotes indicate that he is a grafter. These quotes do not state that Rogers cannot make a future for himself at Test level. You stated both.

Oh dear. Rogers was sledged by an opponent. He might as well retire now. Normally a slow scoring batsman who has copped a comment like this has probably stayed around for a while and made some runs. If you cop a serve from wanker MacGill then your test career is obviously over.

The above comments vindicate nothing. I'll conceede that you have seen Rogers bat more than I have (why would I want to watch Bulls v Warriors or Redbacks v Warriors?) but you are stating outright, on the evidence of one test match that this guy will not improve even though he has just turned 30 and frankly that is ridiculous. As many have stated, JL was in a similar boat.

You dont make 1202 runs in the pura cup in 06/07 at an average of 70 if you cant bat or have no attacking shots, also facing better standard of bowlers than the test arena currently has. Also destroyed the Austrlain attack while playing for Leicestershire making 219 at a good rate against Lee, Gillespie and Macgill, although only a tour game he showed that he can play at the highest level.

REB my opinion on ROGERS is not after his effort in his only test
Ive been saying it on SAFOOTY for months
The guy deserves to get a green cap and deserves another chance as well [no one else]
He was robbed LBFL [leg before fine leg] and 2nd innings was chasing 413
He will no doubt get another chance.

BUT

I still maintain his limited stroke play will stop him from being a regular successful long term test cricketer.
Also his age is against him

Fair enough mally, this is just another one of those times when we will have to agree to disagree. I just reckon the jury's still out. How many times have you seen him bat in the longer form of the game btw? Sotters' point is also a good one IMO.

SOOTERS/MAL/REB are all speculating on a ROGERS test career
Suggest we all wait till hes had 5 tests and then rate him.
And FFS lets all hope the poor guy is not jipped out LBW .

SOTTERS is it a love affair with left handed batsman or just coincidental :wink:

No wonder the Indians won the 3rd test with the following stipulations put in place before the test started.

MEDIA RELEASE -
From the International Cricket Council
For immediate release (especially in India)

The ICC have announced several changes to the playing conditions for the forthcoming 3rd test in Perth between Australia and India. These changes include:
* India must win.
* The umpires shall be nominated by the Indian team. It will be acceptable if reserve Indian players rotate as umpires.

* During the game all appeals shall be referred to the Indian management team and the Indian media contingent prior to any decision being made. (This includes where an Indian player may appear to the naked eye that they have been bowled.)

* When the Indian team is batting the boundary rope shall be moved inwards 20 metres.
* Australian bowlers shall bowl under arm.
* India must win.
* Any time Ricky Ponting is on the field he shall be restrained in a full length strait jacket and muzzled.
* Any Australian spin bowler must advise the batsman in advance what type of delivery is going to be bowled.
* At any time Andrew Symonds is on the field he must where a gorilla suit and accept any sledging in the light hearted manner that this is intended.

* India must win.
* Harbhajan Singh will be cleared on appeal and be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
* Indian batsman may be permitted to use larger bats.
* Australian batsmen may use a bat every fifth over.
* Australian fieldsman should praise every batting attempt by the Indians by saying "Good shot chaps." Apart from this Australian players are not permitted to speak.

* During the lunch and tea break both teams shall get together and have a cup of tea.
* India must win.
The ICC and the BCCI hope that all Australians will understand these minor changes are intended in the best interest of the game.

The ICC would also like to announce that Steve Bucknor has been appointed as the ICC's new cricketing ambassador to Kazikstan. The ICC wishes Steve all the best in this important, newly created role.
