Great to see the game has swung in our favour today. Now here's hoping we can finish them off for the first time this summer. We aren't over the hill yet because two capable batsmen are at the crease; we need them to keep falling steadily.

76.5 Siddle to Boucher, OUT, thats a poor decision from Asoka de Silva, the ball is delivered from wide of the crease, a quick full toss that Boucher cannot pick as he shuffles across towards off stump, it strikes him very high on the pad and would have missed leg stump by some distance

A full toss which hits the pads is almost always given out these days, I haven't seen the decision though.

C'mon Aussies not many to go now.

Out to naked eye, not out on slow mo replay with hawkeye.

Boucher deserves to be given for missing it though

May-z, May-z May-z Under the new laws if a batsman is struck in front of the stumps on the full the umpires are told to assume it is going straight on irrespective of any obvious flight path.

Don't blame De Silva for that blame the law makers.

Pretty poor commnentatry by cricinfo if they don't know the basic laws of cricket

I think you'll find 1980TM that that rule applies more to spin bowling than angle of a pace bowler.

They have to believe the ball will CONTINUE on the same path and it's path was missing the stumps.

I woulda fired him though on first impression.

Tassie the ball isn't supposed to be deemed to straighten towards the stumps but to continue the path it was on, which in this case was about middle stump of the next set of stumps. It was a shocking decision. In a spinners case if you get hit on the full then the umpire is not to consider spin but to consider the ball to continue in a straight line from when it hit him on the pad so they do need to take into consideration the angle at which the ball is travelling at the point of impact.

Siddle strikes again, de Villiers chops it onto the stumps and they are right on the edge of defeat now.

so where is australia at ... is australia really that far behind .. yes the record books will say 2-0, 2-1 ( depending on today's result) even with certain players struggling ...

if it wasnt for a world record chase in the first test

that 9th wicket partnership in the second ..

and yes it is one of those what if's ... but if thats the best the springboks can offer .. who knows

with a bit of fine tuning we could remain a force

its an interesting point - i think it probably shows that australia are currently a good team but not a dominant force as shown by the losses here and in india- on current form south africa india and australia the 3 best sides then a bit of a gap to england. next 2 tours big factors in saying exactly where all 3 teams are at
