Australia batting well, moving to 1-114 at the tea break. Need another 193 runs to win.

Hayden 44* - Ponting 30*

Should be a really good finish.

Well this is the partnership that will deliver for us. And bangas are probably aware of that. Expect them to keep putting on the pressure. But i still think we can get home.

a very astute judge told me that Hayden averages more in his second innings then he does in the first innings, so he should be the high score in the second innings

23 overs to go today
1/157 - 150 to get.
Hayden 67*
Ponting 44*

93* Record partnership for 2nd Wicket vs Bangladesh (previous 91- ML Hayden & RT Ponting, Cairns, 2003.)

Hayden's highest score vs Bangladesh (previously 50).

Hayden & Ponting looking for tons to complete the "set" against all Test nations.
As Speller noted, S Waugh and A. Gilchrist are the only other Australians.
M Taylor, D Bradman, A Morris and R Simpson achieved the feat against all teams with Test status when they were playing.

If you are going to include them, you also have to include the likes of Charles Bannerman who scored a hundred against England and retired before the third team (South Africa) came along.

Others I know of are Gary Kirsten and now Adam Gilchrist.

I know that both Ponting and Hayden need a century against Bangladesh.
Inzamam-Ul-Haq needs a century against South Africa.
Jacques Kallis needs a century against Sri Lanka.
Justin Langer needs centuries against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Marvan Atapattu has also got a century against the 9 other nations.

Herschelle Gibbs needs a century against Sri Lanka.
Sanath Jayasuriya needs centuries against New Zealand and West Indies.
Michael Vaughan needs centuries against New Zealand and Zimbabwe.

4/212
Ponting 72*
Gilly 7*

Talk about in the balance. Fair bit of work to do. Too bad Hayden was run out, as we really needed him to kick on a bit. Still 95 runs to get.

If we lose another wicket, we are into the tail.

Could be a buttock-clenching 1st session tomorrow if the wickets start tumbling.

Than again, maybe Gilly will knock the runs off before drinks.

Yeah you just never know, and i guess thats the problem, gilly is getting a bit more erradic these days. But i guess if this was a few years back gilly would be a shoe in to take on the whole armarda himself and blast us to victory before drinks.

That run out of Hayden was a "very" biased local decision given by the TV umpire - amazingly  enough a local. As I was watching it I was wondering why the not quite side on shot was from a camera located on the boundary with minimal zoom and not a camera fixed to monitor the crease line. The only other shot was from a down the ground head on camera shot and that was inconclusive. So after watching 5 replays from each camera there was too much doubt to give it out yet on came the red light.

About 20 minutes later I noticed (and from both ends) a close up side shot from a camera set to monitor the crease - obviously for no balls, run outs and stumpings. My question is why was this camera view not used in the run out decision? Possibly it was not used because it may well have shown Hayden had made his ground!

Very fishy that decision and it will be interesting to see what results after the match from the Australians. Test match crickety should have and use the same technology worldwide no matter who is playing.

Hayden - Shouldn't have been given out..too close to call and a bad decision.
Martyn - Doesn't have anything to prove..he's told us so. Finished despite his recent hundred. I'd rather watch the Crows play football than watch him bat.
Clarke - No friggin idea. Trying to smash every ball through the covers of the back foot.

If Ponting gets out early, we will lose this match. Punter knows this, so he won't and we will win.

regards,

REB

Oddly enough,I noticed nobody in this thread at any stage suggested that Australia could still win this test.My thoughts were the Bangladeshi's were 150 too short in their first dig.Chasing any less than 450 in the last innings and we would have got it.
