Clearly you would hate to be an Australian cricketer inform at the moment... Watson was a solid performer on a tour there were hardly any standouts yet maybe dropped for tomorrow's test.. Than there is talk krezja's performance in the last test was outstanding yet there still thinking about dropping him for the test.. It will be laughing stock if australia do drop them. I like andrew symonds but you have to award good form test caps don't come to blokes who used to be in form before he stuffed up.. sorry symonds to carry the drinks for mine...

Clearly better on talent and entertainment value maybe but not on current form and thats what selectors have to reward, its not that hard to understand.

Symonds stuffed up, lost his position in the side and now he has to earn it back on the pitch and he has obviously not done that .

Given the state of spin bowling in this country, surely we've got to develop the spinner over a second all-rounder.

What a joke of a decision by the selectors.

Symonds stuffs up, gets banished from the team. Doesn't perform at all for Qld, meanwhile Watson performs admiradbly on the toughest tour in cricket. And Symonds is probably going to kick Watson out. Not fair.

No more fair than Stewart Law getting dropped after scoring a 54* on debut, Damien martyn scoring 65 and a 30 (IIRC) against the West indies in 2000 at Adelaide only to be dropped when SteveWaugh came back or even better Shane Warne after spinning Australia to victory on the subcontinent in 1992 was dropped for the next test at Brisbane....

or even Kasprowicz being dropped after taking 9 wickets in two tests in 2004 so a young S Watson could make his debut...

Watson is not the first player "in form" and having "perfromed" to get dropped for a returning player and won't be the last.

Whilst I think Warson is a good player his potental dropping makes up for the times he has been picked when he probably didn't deserve it his debut test and his selection in the first test of 2005-06 against teh Windies when he got picked because they wanted to play an allrounder rather the tradition 6 bats, 1 keeper and 4 bowlers...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Fairness has nothing to do with it NFC. The selectors have an obligation to pick the best side and if Symonds is in that and Watto isn't then tough sh1t to Watto. If he was a better cricketer he wouldn't be in this position.

Not to worry though cos Watto will most likely play ahead of Krezja anyway.

Well its a strange one. To be honest I think of a green gabba deck you would definitly play Watson. Then take into the way he bowled in India and yes he should definitly be in the team. Also just looking at the Pitch, Watson should play. The question should be around the White, Krezja situation. heres my team for today:

1. Hayden
2. Katich
3. Ponting
4. Clarke
5. Hussey
6.Watson
7.Haddin
8. Lee
9. Clark
10. Johnson
11. Krezja

See In my team you have 3 specialist seamers, and a specialist spinner. Watson was as good as a front line seamer in india in conditions that would not suit him. Adding in the part time spin on Clarke, and I think you have a real balance team here. And we know that a balanced team is where Australia has had alot of sucess in the past. It works because all bowlers have the right amount of work load.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

I also have some difficulty with Roy's rapid return to Watto's spot (potentially). However, the issue here is that Roy wasn't dropped because of poor form. So, it follows that he doesn't need to justify his spot in the side on form in the early Shield matches.

Roy was dropped for disciplinary reasons so all he needs to do is prove those issues are behind him and then he should get his spot back. Watto was filling in and even though he did it admirably he won't be the first stand-in to make way (as Tassie pointed out with the Stuart Law example).

Watto will have to beat Roy out of the allr-rounder's spot on form, providing Roy can keep his head together. He has 6 years age on Roy anyway so his time will come.

Ponting's not a very good tosser, very un-australian, I suppose it's hard to out-toss a kiwi.
