Yes mal, I agree, but we need to think like the selectors, not like people who know cricket... 8)

1 - Is Bollinger 100% fit?

2 - Siddle knows which end of the bat to hold. Might be a valuable 10 or 15 in a partnership of 30 or 40 that Douggie just doesn't offer.

Yeah let's select a bowler because he can make an extra ten runs. Shit. Reminds me of England's rationale for selecting Ashley Giles on the last tour. The extra runs that Siddle can make will be more than needed because the dud doesn't take wickets.

In other words, Douggie aint fit.

Thus why my first most salient point was :

1 - Is Bollinger 100% fit?

They probably feel that to get them 20 wickets someone has to bowl with a bit of mongrel for the other bowlers to feed off. Any way that you looked at it, someone was going to miss out who could play an important role.
I don't think there was any right or wrong combination, on a seaming deck with high possibility of rain I thought all 4 of them would've still been a good option.
My only qualm about the team is the fact that North is still getting a run, Hussey deserves another chance on home soil and is a potential match-winner, I couldn't see North getting us out of the poo if it was needed.
No one else took the bull by the horns though when they had the chance to throw their hat in the ring, Usman might get a gig but didn't produce the goods when it was going to count. Ferg cost himself another month or two at best.

I would very much doubt they have gone with siddle over dougie for his batting ability

I'm not so sure. The selectors would have thought long at hard at keeping Hussey and North and it wouldn't surprise if thier thinking alos included how far down we bat.

If that was the case they would've picked O'Keefe ahead of Xavier Image erty

What else does he have? I hope you are right though I hope Siddle does get a bag. But come on, the dude isn't even from NSW!

He has some mongrel, something that no other Aussie bowler has, Mitch should have at his pace, just lacks the ability to purposely bowl with intimidation.

Dougie has mongrel and I would've picked him and Harris ahead of Siddle and the erratic Johnson.

I think Dougie was jipped aswell mate if he is fit, I think Siddle's far more intimidating than him though. I'd have Dougie in before Mitch aswell, I don't think Mitch has ever been "dropped", it would probably do him a world of good.

For all the talk on Aust's fast bowlers, I reckon Hilfenhaus will the bowler who surprises everyone this series.

He's had the perfect low key preparation, he had a good Ashes series in England in 2009, and at age 28 is primed to take it to the next level.

Out of all of the players involved in this series, he would be the man who I am most looking forward to watching.

I for one am happy to see Siddle in the side. I think he can be used as the workhorse of the pace attack and allow Hilfenhaus to be used in a more attacking manner.
