Perfect opportunity for Cosgrove now to silence those questioning his commtment and ability to bat for long periods of time due to his fitness...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

7/102 So much for bowlers not being able to take wickets on the Adelaide Oval "road".

Cosgrove hung in there for as long as he could but 20 runs is about his limit these days. Not fit enough to play a long innings. Redbacks have hit a new low this morning, I really don't know where we go from here.

The Adelaide oval 'road' was for the test match.
The Adelaide oval Burdett produces for p/cup cricket is full of bounce
and life and suits the quicks.

Congratulations to the selectors for giving LEHMANN the wrong team.
This pitch has been a haven for fast bowlers in the 3 p/cup games.
We have seen DENTON[VIC] CLARK[NSW] TAIT destroying teams this season
at the Adelaide oval
QLD pick BICHEL/JOHNSON/NOFFKE/HOPES/WATSON and spinner DORAN
SA pick ROFE/GILLESPIE and spinners CULLEN + BAILEY
LEHMANN through no fault of his own is forced to bowl COSGROVE 1st change!
I made my point day 1 when QLD wickets were tumbling that we erred not having
the 3rd seamer

QLD 192 + 2/138[PERRON 78*]
SA 171
DIETZ 51 a defiant innings, pick of the batters and he is our keeper.
WATSON 2/13
HOPES 1/9

WATSON 2/13 + THEN PULLED A HAMSTRING
COSGROVE 20 hit 5 fours, no singles !
BOOF 26, batted very well

Here is statistical evidence of a quick bowlers pitch
I HOPE THE SELECTORS READ THIS

QLD 1ST INNINGS 192
QUICKS 7/80
SPINNERS 1/75

QLD 2ND INNINGS
QUICKS 2/41
SPINNERS 0/77

MATCH TOTAL OF 12 QLD WICKETS
QUICKS 9/121
SPINNERS 1/152
Not including Doctor HARRIS who took 0/14, dont know what he bowls :?:

Once again congratulations to the selectors
Incidently all 10 wickets in the SA innings fell to pace
The spinner DORAN was not bowled.

WATSON
Im afraid I have to nearly sack the man
He is a cripple which is his downfall, not ability
He was hit for 2 fours in his 1st over by COSGROVE
Then the champ bowled COSI + FERGUSON out and had 2/13 off 4 overs
AND PULLED A HAMSTRING  AGAIN

LEHMANN

Captained very well with a meduim pace/spin attack in the first dig
Only error in the 2nd dig was having a mid on by the stumps at the bowlers end
with the score on 1/26 for ROFE, ROFE found the edge of PERRON thru the
vacant 2nd slip

SA BATSMAN
----------------

A lesson from Uncle MAL
I got there at 2/41 to an eventual 171
I saw 130 runs
I counted 12 singles in total
In pressure situations rotating the strike is a good way to unsettle the bowlers.

HARRIS/CLEARY
------------------------

My advice to Ryan + Mark 2 talented allrounders is find another state
If the selectors wont pick you on this pitch with TAIT injured then its time to move on.

SELECTORS
--------------

For the last 3 years Burdett has produced seaming wickets between October to January
From the new year onwards it starts turning.

If anyone wants questions awnswered on todays play I am happy to answer any questions.

team selection is one issue, lets just hope the spinners rip through Qld tomorrow

basically, it's just same old same old for SA

lack of consistency, in a 4 day game you often see two SA sides playing

how many opportunities has this side blown in recent seasons

I don't doubt the ability of the side but I have serious doubt their mental toughness and their desire, this comes down to the culture of the place

G'day fellas

Dan Harris was bowling very accurate medium pacers on friday, holding excellent line and length and keeping one end very quiet while Cozzie was bowling all over the shop at the other end. Only reason Cosgrove scored the two wickets was that the batsmen were willing to have a swing at him and scooped half volleys to mid wicket, while they were forced to play straight against DH. Harris may well be a future all-round star for us; based on friday's performance I'd back him to bowl ten overs a match in the one-dayers and to bowl first change in the pura cup in front of the spin twins. Why cozzie bowled yesterday instead of him is beyond me.

1980TM

the first injury happened late October, one week prior to the 1st test, Watson had a full 6 weeks of rehab, no he has a tear 5cm longer, I would think 6 weeks would be absolute minimum

without knowing all the details, he is probably looking at 4 - 6 weeks rehab and another 3 weeks minimum strengthening and conditioning work

end of Feb early March, would be a realistic return to the game

In this game, for sure.
For every pura cup game, well, Tait-Dizzy-Rofe-Harris has a nice ring to it, but by copping a bit off the spinners now we will (hopefully) reap some rewards down the track

Tea Day 3
Queensland 8-334
Bichel 7*
Noffke 7*
J Gillespie 5/69

If we can run through the tail like we should have done last innings, we'll have three and a half sessions to make around 370.
IF...

6/56

Ferguson with a wonderful 2. What a star. How he keeps getting a game i do not know.

Over 18.3: Hopes to Ferguson, OUT: wildly slashes outside off, thin edge and keeper Hartley does the rest, well and truly gloomy for SA now

Fat Cosgrove made a duck as well. Elliott only 5. Dan Harris 0 but he can be excused this time.
What a bunch of hacks.
