you forgot to mention, in his first Test
When he is still doing it in his 6th Test I will then agree with you

so after yay amount of first class games, yeah amount of t20/one dayers/ yay amount of training sessions he is still going to need six test matches to be able to put one ball on the stumps at the number 11 batsmen.

OK!

good to see Nathan Lyon prove the theory correct.

Very interesting stats indeed. And proves that he has and does work very hard on his game. I read an article in the lastes 'Inside Cricket' which he described his goals and his work to reach them. I can see him being a regular if he continues to work and improve as he has over the last 12 months.

How easy is it to square Hughes up and have him nicking it?

The biggest flaw in his game is the one opening left hand bats must counter to be effective. Langer and Hayden bump that one through mid-wicket for two. Hughes walks off.

Good ball to Hughesy. Played the right line unfortunately the ball did just enough to catch the edge.

This same comment has been made a few times about Hughes on safooty when dismissed
Is there any fact that Hughes makes the outside off stump ball look good
When he first started at Test level, he would ease back and throw the bathroom sink at similar deliveries
The ball ended up anywhere between slip and point, short, wide or over
And he prospered by scoring , if not getting out
These days he pokes at the ball too often
I recall practice fielding sessions in my day, when one person would throw the ball to a person with a bat
That person would angle the bat and give slips catching practice to the guys behind him
The way Hughes bats it reminds me of that fielding drill

No sympathy for Hughes what so ever!!! He doesn't deserve to be in the Australian side!!! The fact he has a spot in front of katich is a disgrace or in front of someone who can actually play...

For one the ball was pitched on leg not outside off. The ball did enough to catch the edge. An opening batter plays in the v early on. He played straight through the line and the ball did enough to catch the edge.
