Still 92 run lead at Tea, would think we need to knock them over reasonably quickly from here or the game could well go the other way and we would look stupid.

So we stand a smidgen of a chance to go top if we lost bugger all wickets in our run chase?

I know that I'm being a little over-exuberant and I should just be thankful for not getting pummeled.

Nope - 1st innings bonus points only.. 2nd innings counts for nothing except the win.

Sheffield Shield points system
Outright win: 6 points (no change)

Draw: 1 point (previously 0)

1st innings win: 0 points (previously 2)

Bonus batting

First 100 overs: .01 for every run above 200

Example: 350 runs in the first 100 overs = 1.5 points. Batting points are uncapped until 100 overs

Bonus bowling

First 100 overs: 0.5 points awarded at fall of fifth wicket, seventh wicket and ninth wicket

Example: 8 wickets in first 100 overs = 1 point. Bowling points capped at 1.5

After first 100 overs, no further bonus points available to either team

Despite some of the criticism he has copped, Cosgrove has really added some consistency to the top of the order.

Consistently disappointing I assume you mean. Average for the year is sub 30. He's a 31 year old in his 15th first class season by my reckoning. If he's not learnt to go on with it by now when will he? Didn't we basically tell Klinger he wouldn't be guaranteed a spot opening on the "strength" of Cosgrove returning? Then we had to part ways with Botha because Cosgrove would be classed as an international. Can't say it's purely coincidence that Head has had an ordinary season with the captaincy. I still think he was a chucker, but Botha's bowling was effective and I reckon it would give our attack a real nice rounded feel having Botha's right arm jabs. Bat him 7, Ludeman 8. Klinger opening to protect the middle order more. Not that they're doing too bad. Ferguson and Ross averaging high 40s, Lehmann in the 70s. But I guess at least Cosgrove has added some consistency......
