The fact Johnson is smart and at least tries to think about his bowling,(it appears to me) Tait doesn't.

As Slater noted,he can bowl wides and no-balls then end the day 4'fa.

Well I fear the 4'fa's will happen less often then the no ball/wides.Saying this,I love the big bloke, his action, his laid back approach and how he want's to bowl for Australia.

Just got to think harder IMHO.

What do you reckon Johnson's thinking?

"if i just keep bowling a metre outside off stump that should do it. Yeah that will work particularly against the tail enders and I'm sure world class batsmen will eventually play a bad shot so why bother trying to bowl in areas that might trouble them on a consistent basis. It not as if i bowl 4 balls on a consistent basis."

Of Johnson I said at least he looks like he tries to think about it,not saying he has it right.I just think he would have the backing of important people because of his manner,IMO.

Fair enough.

What a great catch by Hussey! I'm surprised he hasn't been at first slip.

Gully very different to first slip. Not necessarily easier but very different.

It is completely different but I think he has some experience there, it was just mentioned on the commentary which made me think.

Clarke has shown what a difference first slip is, he has dropped a couple there in the last two innings, Symonds dropped one last test too. They need to sort something out.

True. Problem Australia has is that they don't have too many specialist slips fieldsmen. Ponting's about the only one.

Yeah that's true, they don't even have any who play slip for their states I guess.

The problem is, with Hayden still in the team, it's hard to give someone experience there.. but I guess it's a natural position.

Dravid on 75 now after being dropped on.. 11 I think.
He's only taken about 250 balls to get there so he's flying along.

Terrible shot from Dravid. Terrible terrible shot. Worked so hard only to throw it away like that. What a waste of all his hard work.

Massive wicket for the Aussies!!!

Dravid did that last Test too, batted for hours and hours before getting himself out stupidly. He really does need to score faster though, he should have had a ton by now. It was a shocking shot, he could have coasted to his ton by playing it along the ground against the spin twins.

Was that the most subdued Roy has ever been after taking a wicket? The replay was hilarious! He looked at Punter, then at Dravid, at Punter, at Dravid.. then strolls to say "well done skip".

Here we go again. Mitchell Johnson given the second new ball and his first offering is a wide about two metres outside off stump. FFS give anyone the ball but Johnson. I mean what are his change balls? He has two of them. First one is a juicy half volley just outside off stump and the other is a ball right on the pads just asking to be put away.

Brilliant catch by Tait, his fielding isn't the best and I saw him drop an easier one than that on debut in a ODI but he plucked that one out! VVS Laxman gone, Lee with another wicket.

Maybe Tait can field in slips?? 8)

I just cannot stand Johnson's bowling. He just sh1ts me to tears. Make the batsmen play FFS. He has ability but he just bowls such rubbish.

It's very annoying I agree!

I would LOVE to see Tait be given the chance with the new ball!

I would LOVE to see Tait DESERVE to be given the chance with the new ball!

Face it he has been the fourth bowler in both choice and performance.

Johnston may not be bowling brilliantly but his performance has been better than Tait's, of that there is no doubt.

Just remember how much everyone used to bag Lee and look at the bowler he has developed into.

We have the best 4 pacemen in Australia in the team at the moment and two of them are very much developing.

Tait is Australia's #4 atm and it is up to him to prove otherwise, so stop sounding like a SA version of Bill Lawry and wait for him to do something.

Why should he get the new ball ahead of the other 3????

Had Tait been fit before the first test against Sri Lanka he would've played before Johnson. Clark is a first change bowler and he will never get the new ball.

MITCHELL JOHNSON
Memo to Johnson critics
I think he is doing enough[should have had 3 wickets today the Dravid LBW was OUT]
Im 50/50 whether he becomes a good fast bowler for his country
The package is
LH bowler [varaition]
bowls 140/150 [thats quick for a lefty]
safe fieldsman
handy correct tailend batsman

One thing I suggest to the most vehement of all critics is
PATIENCE
MJ is a project player
An investment that needs time, and worthwhile because of his uniqueness in my opinion

RAHUL DRAVID
Struggling for his best form
But no one should question this guys fortitude and temperament
Has had lots of luck on this tour
today dropped at 11 + plum LBW later
It is boring watching Drearyvid these days but he gets a pass mark overall

THE GAME
About evens stevens, both sides can be satisfied

THE PITCH
what happened to this superquick bouncy deck ?
oh thats right curators are only allowed to produce 5 day wickets
