That is true they have a few players that have a reasonable amount of ability. Some good batsmen, but as normal the issue is there consistancy.

The Afghanistan players are expecting a huge reception back home in Kabul after winning the World Cricket League Division 3 in Argentina. The team left Buenos Aires on Sunday night and will arrive in Afghanistan on Tuesday, and fast bowler Hameed Hasan was anticipating a large crowd turning out to greet them.

The top four sides from the qualifiers will go on to feature in the 2011 World Cup, while a top-six finish will secure ODI status for the next four years, as well as automatic qualification for the Intercontinental Cup.

Afghanistan progressed as the first qualifier and will be placed in Group B alongside Kenya, The Netherlands, Bermuda, UAE and Denmark. Uganda will be up against Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Oman and Namibia in Group A.

Jesse Ryder is flying home to New Zealand after an elbow injury forced him out of the two Twenty20s against Sri Lanka in the United States next weekend. Ryder, who has just returned from a long-term stomach problem, left the squad to get a thorough assessment of the complaint, which hampered him throughout the World Twenty20.

Is this bloke (Kiwi version of Cossie) ever fit?

Marlon Samuels, the West Indies and Jamaica batsman, has said his "love for the game" kept his hopes for a comeback alive during his two-year ban for links to an Indian bookmaker. Samuels, who has maintained his innocence, returned to play for his regional side Jamaica against USA in a one-day game in Florida. He failed to fire in that game but followed up with a half-century in a Twenty20 game against the hosts.
