OMG, you wouldn't read about it would you.....

Skull has collected he made the call two hours ago that the run out was the short priced favourite for the dismissal.

This on the cricinfo.com commentary:

A more just decision would have seen Katich dismissed, as he completely bailed on his partner. It was incredibly selfish of Katich to retreat. Alas, justice doesn't come into the umpire's decision.

Should have been Katich's call and instead he just seemed to watch the ball and trot down the pitch. Watching Katich I would have thought he was setting off for an easy run and I didn't hear anything on the effects to suggest he said no or wait. IMHO S. Katich at fault on that one.

cricinfo has got it very wrong i'm afraid. Katich did not bail on his partner at all. Sure it wasn't good running from him but he had no idea Watto kept coming. It was obvious Katich was surprised when he turned around to see Watto right next to him. If anything whilst Katich was ball watching Watto knew that the Kat wasn't running yet made no attempt to turn around and try to get back.

Bad cricket from both players but to suggest the Kat bailed on Watto is ridiculous.

The ball went behind square therefore the non strikers call.

Edit: Watching a replay with sound from the stumps mic, there is no call at all from Watson and being his call he only has himself to blame.

Sorry Rod, but that is wrong. Technically the ball might have been behind square, but it's still basically square of the wicket in effect and that should always be the striker's call. That was 100% Katich's call. The reason being the non striker can't see anywhere near as easily whether the ball is going to beat the field or not.

I was waiting for Watson to go back when Katich was not committed to the run. Instead he just tried to beat Kat back to that crease.
