There is technically no reason for a square to need replacing.

Nb. Not talking about after football has destroyed it after a wet winter etc..

Thought it was a Bad decision at the time and was proven

Geez no pleasing some of you - last week it was abuse because the 'backs didnt enforce the follow on, this week it's because they did! :?

DARREN BERRY
" We have won outright in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne"
" What we have is the first year with drop ins and they are not breaking up or deteriorating."

RICHARD EARLE
Former Test duo Wade and Hastings frustrated the Redbacks on a drop in pitch that conspires against outright wins.

MAL
It can be rightly said good sides find a way to win despite adversities
But there is some minor to significant disadvantage this season for SA playing at Adelaide Oval
As indeed the opposition has in gaining max points this season at Adelaide Oval
But then again, the opposition only plays once at Adelaide Oval, SA play 5 times

PINK BALLS
No, not mine
Round 9 of the SS season will be played with Pink balls and Black sight screens
Maybe , just maybe, with this unprecedented experiment , it could produce a 6 point result !!!!
This is highly unusual, and there might be some controversy , given that its the business end of the cricketing season
Very very very very very very very very very very poor timing in my opinion

Drop in pitch , pink cricket balls, black sightscreens
Blue stumps in the SA V VI game on day 4 at least
Whats next ?
Maybe an outright win on King William Road this SS season...

The great man Les Burdett was in the lockleys hotel tonight,i was going to thank him for producing such a boring pitch for all those years and obviously the trend has continued, but i thought let him keep believing that he is still king of the domain.FFS CHUCK dont play two spinners at home play 4 quicks and 1 spinner, seen a few times in previous years that interstate teams have played and won outright.FFS.

Good bowling attacks with adventurous captains will take 20 wickets on any surface. Its a cop out to say its the wickets fault for not having more results.
Adelaide oval has seen some great last day results, a point we seem to quickly forget.

Its a great surface to bat on and if you bend your back you get wickets.

Drop ins are prepped exactly the same way as normal wickets. So stop blaming the wickets.

No it's not at the moment. The heat really cooked the square ( the santa anna is going great, just the other couch isn't fairing too well) plus too much cricket per weekend ( approx 200 overs), kids with no spikes all adds up to very little grass in the crease areas. The actual pitch itself is playing ok and holding together.

There was a bit of a concern with the u/15 pitch the other Sunday against your guys, although I didn't see any of the game, my gut feeling is the report made was a bit of an over reaction.

Please note
I have changed the thread title to:
KING WILLIAM ROAD/SHEFFIELD SHIELD

I had wanted to discuss :
Have past and present Adelaide Oval pitches affected chances of gaining outrights in the SS ?
In turn , is this one of the reasons why SA has not won more SS titles ?

I apologise for any confusion , for those posting on Adelaide Oval Test pitches/results etc

I believe the redbacks have proven over the years they can lose on any type of pitch. I suspect the wicket has as much impact as the colour of their undies :D
Vote for King Thistle and the Wise Old Elf ... you know it makes sense
