I know how you feel. I spat the dummy after our first really bad performance this season. I thought we were better than this, obviously not. I won't get on my soap box again. We all know what is wrong, but things will never change so we have to live with it.

Let me just say that SA cricket would be a lot better off if certain people were to leave, and I'm not talking about the coaching staff, the selectors nor the players.

Blewett might come under consideration after posting 74 for Kensington on the weekend. bit strange that he batted at 7 though.

some of the current team need to spend some time working there ar*es off on Saturdays at Grade level. maybe its time to ruffle a few feathers and select some uncontracted players to represent this state

Jason Borgas made 150 not out on Saturday. He also made a 200 not out in the 1st round this season. The problem is, he didn't set the world on fire in the 2nd XI recently, so I'm not sure how the selectors would view his form.

I arrived at the oval after a QLD collapse at 5/162
QLD 182 in front and SA right in this game, after that
the match became a mess Dizzy had 3/27 and on fire
Shane WATSON crippled with a hamstring tear came out
to bat with the other star QLD allrounder Jimmy HOPES.
The match turned with MALS 2 champs putting on a splendid
135 unison to 6/301 to an eventual 363
Hopes 77 top innings
Watson 68 courage personified
It took the brilliant GILLESPIE to get them both out
GILLESPIE 5/61 + 10/110 for the game

QLD made 192+363

pace took 14/210
spin took 4/283
others were cosgrove + harris

gillespie + rofe averaged 15 per wicket
spinners averaged 70 per wicket

The selectors f.....d this up a 3rd seamer [r harris or cleary] was needed.
BOOF was crucified and no captain since the skipper of the Titanic has been shafted as much.

The ask was 385 of about 131 overs.
Everything was going according to plan until the 3rd ball of the innings
Doctor Harris was out for 0 and the prosession started

Elliott made his usual contribution for 5
Elliott now has 257 runs in the pura cup for SA at an average of 16
ITS TIME FOR ME TO PLAY AS THE OPENER, I WOULD AVERAGE ABOUT 2
WHICH IS 14 LESS THAN ELLIOTT BUT AT LEAST I COULD BE IN THE FIELD
TO HELP LEHMANN CAPTAIN THE TEAM AND WE WOULD BE 50-100 RUNS
BETTER OFF IN MOST GAMES IN THE FIELD :!: :x :!: :!: :!: :!: :x :!: :x

ELLIOTTS p/cup Adelaide oval scores are in his SA career

5-23
16-18
19-7
0-6
0-5

10 innings 99 runs ave 9-90
How many more games can we carry him :?:
Surely ADCOCK who will occasionally at least bat long enough to see the word kookaburra
come off the new ball is a better proposition
or Blewett
or Plant
or R Harris + Cleary to bat 7 + elevate Dietz to number 6
or any district cricketer who can tie up his shoelaces

Elliotts fielding is ordinary, spilling catches this year and conceding extra runs
in the outfield.

All out 104
highest partnership 24 between Cullen/Rofe + that was for the last wicket :!:
Rofe 18*
Lehmann 22
the pick of a bad bunch

Bichel 3/13
Hopes 4/25

Hopes was stiff he had a dropped catch to make it 5/14
He also bowled Bailey off the inside egde on to leg stump off a no ball
which cost him 4 runs, after bowling a batsman :!:

Some SA players were at Globe Derby saturday night, they should have stayed there.

The funniest comment from a boisterous gentleman in the crowd was to Ashley Noffke
at fine leg when QLD had SA 9 down
He yelled out to Noffke to tell Maher to bowl leg spinner Doran[who did not bowl a single over in 2 innings] as Noffke acknowleged the comment.
The gentleman then yelled out "Come on bring on your spinner we gave you 70 overs of charity
when we bowled."
Several QLD players laughed loudly
That sums it up.

One last time congratulations to the selectors picking no third pace bowler on a wicket
which is tailor made for quicks all year so far.

MALS STABLE
----------------

HARRIS 20 and 0 no coincidence we lost
HOPES 3 and 77..... 1/9 + 4/25 West Indies here we come
WATSON 5 and 68....2/13 if only he could stay fit
BORGAS 0 and 17 ..failed.

At least we beat QLD by 7 wickets in the womens cricket.

that first quote is taken directly from wayne phillips when we made 29 v nsw a few seasons ago

the 2nd quote is misleading ALL PLAYERS from BOTH SIDES were at globe derby, they had a meal in the restaurant & then just mingled in the crowd & were happy to talk cricket , punting & sign autographs
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

Agree BAYMAN
At 35 your time as a batsman is virtually up
Look at me I should have retired at 35 with an average of 40.0
but being the fool I was I continued for 13 years more as my average
slipped to 38.5.

I say it after every game, pathetic.

Three things annoy me more than ever about the redbacks in fact there is more but I will stick to three.

1) How many of them seem to be out late at night during the cricket season, sometimes after a days play when they have to play the next day. I would have thought when you are performing as poorly as they are it might be time to cut out the social activities and stop trying to live like superstars and get back to playing cricket. That includes the senior player’s right down to the younger ones in the team.

2) They have a win like they did last Wednesday night and people say they are back on track and pat them on the back. Id like to see them string a few games together before treating them like heroes.

3) There is to much positive talk about some of our young cricketers and some of them believe the hype. I am sick of hearing Cosgrove, Ferguson, Cullen, Manou and Bogas will all play consistently for Australia at some stage. The fact is while they might have 'potential' all are currently lucky to even be in the Redback’s team. All this talk about Cosgrove losing weight so he can play for Australia is a bit much, how about losing some weight so he can perform for the Redbacks? He is a long way off playing for Australia at the moment and really should be playing District cricket.

The whole thing is an embarrassment, it’s such a mess I don't know where to even start fixing it. Flipper is running out of excuses and should walk away at the end of the year if not sacked
