Very amazing. I think he may have got to this point quicker than Mallett as well.
Interesting that Mallett was also a player who had to move to Adelaide from another state to get a shot.

Starc, Hazelwood and Shaun Marsh in, Clarke, Harris and Siddle are out.

TV preachers sell salvation for a buck.

harris did look a bit underdone, and even if he was 100% fit playing 4 back to back tests is probably beyond him. will play the last two tests probably given there is a bit of a break between them

Great stat

I don't think many will ever put Lyon in the 'legendary' but imho his place in Australian cricket history shouldn't go underestimated, he has become Australia's first world class spinner since the retirement of Warne and Macgill and at a time were the Australians had dropped down to number 3-4 in the world test rankings

i think it is also a reflection on how good warne and macgill were.

tough act to follow! you can be pretty damn good, like lyon is, no an all time great, but pretty damn good, and it looks like poo in comparison.

Harris' knees can't cope with four tests in four weeks and Siddle is shit.

Cricinfo says Harris has a slight strain in his quadriceps, and that smith has confirmed he will move to number 4 with marsh to bat at 5

Aus v Ind Test Series

Postby bennymacca » Wed Dec 17, 2014 7:23 am

A group of punters stand to make $50k each after putting $100 at 500-1 on hazelwood to play a Test match before he was 30, when hazelwood was 15

My question is, why would a bookie even take that bet? Seems like they would be at a big Informstion disadvantage.

I reckon it's a good bet to take. There'd be plenty of these type of bets going around, you're only hearing about this one because it's actually happened.
Lots of 15yo in the system with talent, how many make it to the First XI?
Look at the under 19 WC winning team, how many will play Test cricket? How many will even play First Class?

Too risky a bet for a Bookmaker to take , as he does not have a perceived % advantage
Theres enough 15 years showing enormous talent with the potential to play Test cricket

At 15 there were 2 cricketers at my high school teams with real talent
Both played Sheffield Shield cricket, only 1 step away from Test cricket

Yep, because of the bounce if you drop short it is so easy to go for runs, and also inside edges are much less dangerous than outside edges

Can be even harder for visiting off spinners
In recent times
Murali, Ashwin, Swann

All excellent offies who all struggled in Australia

I had often thought all things considering that Nathan Hauritz did well enough
