Looks like some rain in Melbourne at the moment.

Would rather Redbacks pick Pope than Andrews. Pope is a wicket taker, always has been. Andrews does not spin the bowl, suited to one day games at best. Sure, Pope cant bat, but we need to go back to picking six batters and Nielsen as keeper at 7, then three pace bowlers and Pope. Much more balanced team than what they have currently.

Weatherald may survive as Travis Head out with the Second X1 game in Perth.

Bosisto has to play, maybe Lehmann gets another chance.

Weatherald, Hunt, Ferguson, Lehmann, Cooper, Bosisto, Nielsen, Winter, Sayers, Agar, Pope.

It was a strange move by O'Connell

Had a great season, his cricket was on the rise. Uproot yourself as a 17/18 year old and move states away from family and friends? To a much stronger state too.

No rush with spinners surely.

Money decision - three year full contract compared to one year Rookie contract with Redbacks.

Cant blame him for taking it, but in the long run not sure it will work out.

He should probably try making some runs before worrying about that stuff.

Hmmm... 20 overs in and Jackson Bird hasn't got a 5 wicket haul yet

Uncharted territory.

The commentators said that this is our first 100 run opening stand since Dalton and Weatherald against a full strength NSW in a pink ball game. Round 1 or 2 of the 2017-18 season :o
