TAS V NSW PURA CUP FINAL

First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

Postby Aerie » Thu Mar 22, 2007 1:55 pm

It's a quality game. Butterworth looks the goods. Good to finally see some competitive real cricket after the let down of the one-sided Ashes whitewash. Would love to see the Pura Cup back on tv during the season as well.

NSW have nothing to lose and will have to go after the runs. This means we should see some entertaining cricket for the rest of the match. Jaques, Thornely and Katich will have to fire, but can't see Tassie letting this one slip. I think they'll win in the last session of the 5th day. And they've done all this without the best player in the world in their team

Managed to watch 10 minutes or so while home at lunchtime .. From the highlights they showed Butterworths driving (bar being left handed) reminded me a little of a younger Greg Blewett.

just some of the quotes these internet commentators are saying

Bollinger to Wright, SIX, I don't want to brag i told you so but i told you so, it's not Jamie Cox tipping Ireland but Wild Wright has a launched Dougie over midwicket for six of the best

Bollinger to Wright, no run, full and there's an inside edge and no cigar for the luckless Dougie Bolly
Local yobs sledging Bollinger, wonderful alcohol, where would we be?

Lambert to Clingeleffer, 1 run, turned around the corner. Here's Wild. Will Cling-on get his ton?

Lambert to Wright, 1 run, donked to mid-on and SCG Mac misfields, much to the joy of the Cascade loving citizens of Planet Bellerive

Nicholson to Di Venuto, SIX, boooooom, Divver won't be tied down, he hoiks a hook shot high into the Hobart heavens before it comes down with ice on it to be fielded in the crowd by a man in a blue singlet

Nicholson to Clingeleffer, no run, resolutely donked to point. They cannot get this man out. They need a forklift, or a Bobcat

Nicholson to Birt, no run, Nicko around the wicket again, another one keeps low ... could be a factor later, if not sooner. Meanwhile Katich talks to SCG Mac about fruity shiraz and how long one should cellar the 87 chardonnay from the Barossa

last comment of the day by the internet commentator

Hilfenhaus to Lambert, no run, down leg - and that is stumps on a day that was all Tasmania's, their No.7 & 8 batters made hundreds and batted the Blues so far out the game they need 571 in 3 sessions, and that is not do-able without divine intervention. Don? Can you hear us?

TA started today 310 in front with 4 wickets left.

This is what KATICH SHOULD have been saying in the rooms before entering the arena.
" COME ON DOUGIE BOLLINGER YOU BOWLED BRILLIANTLY IN THE FIRST DIG
ONE MORE BIG SPELL FOR THE YEAR MATE, BOWL EM OUT QUICK AND WE ONLY
GOTTA CHASE LESS THAN 350....MATTY NICHOLSON YOU CAN DO IT MATE, YOU
AND DOUGIE GOT THE NEW BALL THIS MORNING, CARN BOYS YOU TWO CAN DO IT.
CARN BOYS LETS HOLD OUR CATCHES LETS GIVE IT ALL WE CAN STILL WIN THE PURA CUP."

Instead the worst NSW captain I have ever seen goes out and bowls his worst 2 bowlers from ball 1
He bowled LAMBERT [I could face him when im 70 years old and make runs]
He also bowled HAURITZ :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

No new ball taken, not even MACGILL who could take more wickets than HAURITZ and LAMBERT
bowling with a blind fold.

Absolutely disgraceful captaining
What the **** was KATICH thinking :?:
The rest is history

TA 340
BUTTERWORTH 66

NS 230
BUTTERWORTH 4/33

TA 460
BUTTERWORTH 106

NS 0/3
BUTTERWORTH has not bowled yet

570 in 90 overs is the equation.

TA will beat the NEW REB WALES 2ND X1

To tell you the truth Ive seen him for a couple of years playing for TA and thought
he was a slow scoring batsman and an inocoius friendly meduim pacer.
His bowling the last few games has been sensational
His batting in the final has been stunning batting at number 8 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good to see a guy
who is not good enough to be picked as a batsman
who is not good enough to be picked as a bowler
perform and be a big factor in TA winning the shield final :D

UPDATE: 8/115

Wright to Smith, OUT, straight through the gate, maybe if we're being generous a bit of movement off the seam, but the gap was between bat and pad and he's on his way the keeper, six-down now the Blues, we'll be in the pub by Lunch

Wright to Hauritz, OUT, swing and a snick by hauritz, he didn't even bother looking around just walked off after a fat edge goes into the Sean Clingeleffer buckets. just the genuine tail-enders now between Tassie and a mountain of Cascade Premium lager

Wright to Rohrer, OUT, Roh-roh tries a cut shot and Wild Wright captures three when a thin but audible top edge sees the Blues ever closer to blessed oblivion and the Tigers thinking of the Cascade Premium baths and the keys to the city and the love

FUNNY QUOTES FROM THE COMMENTATOR

It's all over - well done Tassie.

Maybe now people can stop giving SA crap about letting the Bananna benders win their first one.
Have fun NSW!
