SA
Interesting year for SA in the Pura Cup
Last year was meant to be a transitional year for the Redbacks but we slipped backwards
After a promising 2005 -2006 where some juniors showed immense talent the 2006-2007 season was a veritable disaster going by results, and the juniors disappointed
Some experienced players also struggled most of the time as well

INJURIES PURA CUP
Im stunned at the amount of injured players at the start of this season or not available
WATSON/KASPEROWICZ/BICHEL all missed the o/d game v TA
WRIGHT/BUTTERWORTH all missed the o/d game v QL
TAIT ? / LEHMANN not 100% fit for SA
HARWOOD injured for VI
NORTH has a knee problem for WA
Karen ROLTON has a finger injury
And there might be more from the other states.

SA V VI PREVIEW

SA have named a 13 man squad v VI
Lehmann is not in the squad as is not match fit
Lehmann has played 2 masters games
Lehmann made 64 and took 2/19[?] + 4/37 at district level
But is lacking fitness , what the...
Tait will need to pass a fitness test despite playing at district level last week
The big shock is MANOU in DIETZ out
ELLIOTT is back in the squad
And star batsman Cam Borgas is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack !

At district level some squad members have some good early form
D HARRIS 122 in his 100th game for Woodville
ELLIOTT 80
GILLESPIE 3/30
CULLEN 4/14
BAILEY 80
C BORGAS I think made a 90 odd resuming from the shoulder injury
LEHMANN 64 + a 4/37
ADCOCK 138

Ive left the best till last
Mark CLEARY the ice man was a stunning early season form man
130
5/38
Surely this immensley talented allrounder can command a regular gig this year

Victoria has included 19 year old WADE to keep and have dropped CROTHSWAITE
Enforcer Hollywood HARWOOD is injured [again] and WISE takes a spot in the team

THE GAME SA V VI

Usually at this time of year the pitch is lively and could produce a lowish scoring game
Fast bowlers have dominated games before xmas at this venue in recent years
There is talk of a more spinner friendly track this year
DENTON loves creaming us at this venue and is the danger man
Looks a even game and could go either way

YOU'LL KEEP

Stunned at the first choice keepers for this game
MANOU not DIETZ
WADE not CROTHSWAITE

Seeyas at the game starting 14/10/07
Usual spot

Shane DIETZ had a good year last season whilst most of his team-mates were disMAL
If its a disciplinary matter lets hope it is solved quickly and move on.
It was not his fault the team underachieved last season.

Should we win this one, I just hope we don't fall away.

I hope Nathan Adcock has a good year. Everyone keeps putting pressure on him which is not good for him and the team. He is a quality player

Deitz allegedly showed up in ordinary condition to a training session. Very convenient however with Sorrell being a keeping purist and with his northern connections- Manou was always going to benefit from his coaching appointment.IMO

Deitz was outstanding last year and a more committed and gutsy cricketer you will struggle to find

I really rate Cleary also Mal, I hope to see him get a regular spot too. I think there is a spot for a bowling allrounder like him.

So do i watched him bowl at state and district level and was very very good
he can also bat which helps with that allrounder spot

MANOU V DIETZ
______________

Without a shadow of doubt MANOU has much more natural ability than DIETZ
MANOU when on song is a very sweet batsman
MANOU is also probably the best gloveman in the Domestic comp
DIETZ makes the most of a lesser ability with sheer guts and determination
Both are good players
However I would pick DEITZ as this team needs gutsy contributors

On the other 4 day game being played ATM

Tas are 7/112

Noffke 5/33

On the Vic/Sa its great to see Aiden Blizzard and Matthew Wade possibly making their debuts in 4 day cricket (Wade certain)

MAL

Wade moved from Tassie to Vic because they promised him more opportunities.

this kid can play, dont worry about that, good with gloves and bat.

Id have Deitz then Manou, Manou just lets the team down by giving away byes, dropped catches, its as if he's day-dreaming about his missus

All good calls mal barr 1, i think the "best gloveman in the land" tag is one the SACAs like to throw up to suit themselves- Im sure qld say harltey and tassie say clingleffer (who played 2nd X1 last week and scored a ton) and i think those two particularly are just as good if not better. The most important thing the redbacks need to be successful this year IMO is their batsman to bat time. Deitz comes into his own in this craft.

Heard the same mail and some of the other players are getting a bit disgruntled with the selectors as they are not getting the chance to play with the BEST Team possible.

Players were told to NOT to comment on Deitzs' non-selection to the media.
Heard Adcock on Radio tonight and when asked by KG about the dropping of Deitz, Played a straight Bat by saying that the selectors have picked a squad that they feel gives the side the best chance of winning and thats THAT basically.

How much longer are They going to continue to pick players that toe the line rather than the Best performing players? Spectators want to see the BEST Players on the park, NOT Rejects like Manou and Adcock that are proven FAILURES.

:butthead: :butthead: :butthead: to the selectors.

again methinks that people higher up in the SACA pecking order have tickled the selection process. WTF is the point of having a selection panel select a side when it is continually rejected by the orgainisation :?

Your plan JJ would see the side going the same way as South Adelaide in the SANFL. Discipline must come first, if your disciplined your 100% committed......

Gonna really put my neck on the line here and say that Nathan Adcock will improve his first class batting average by the end of the season...you guess hes going to get a few hits this season.

Note his current average is 26.9 (might make the dizzy heights of 30 by seasons end)

Give Nathan ADCOCK a chance lads
Lets reserve judgement until mid season
Lets hope the captaincy improves his modest past returns
