Gritty opener Chris ROGERS will be ruled out of contention from playing in the first test v Sri Lanka
Thursday night ROGERS was admitted to the Perth Hospital with Appendicitus.
This setback will sideline ROGERS for 2-3 weeks.
With percieved rivals ROGERS /WATSON injured it almost makes Phil Jaques a shoe in for the 1st test after his 167 v WA.

Nice mal. Geez poor bastard, could not have come at worse time for him. And Watson for the first test....as what I know the aussies need someone to carry some bags but come on should watson be doing too much with such a fragile body. ;)

Gut wrenching ......
I feel sorry for Chris
They interviewed the poor guy on TV today
He said he was just sitting around and had some stomach cramps + the rest is history
He is a magnificent player for his state and this is rotten luck for him
The possibilty of earning million dollar contract for Australia has diminished
He will be back in 2 weeks time

Jaques' name has been marked in ink at number 2 for the First Test for about a week now ... under Hayden and above Ponting.
