I thought this would be go so any discussions about the SA Vs NZ series or the Pak Vs India ODIs dont get discussed to much in the test thread.

South Africa Vs New Zealand 1st Test.

Sth Africa won the toss and elected to bat.

Just after tea they are 6/168

Boucher on 13* and Nel 4*

Gibbs has been the top scorer so far on 63.

Vettori has the amazing figures of 11 overs 0/7, he really is one of the most creative and is probably the second best finger spinner to Murali IMO.

Bond has 3 for the Black Caps.


India Vs Pakistan 2nd ODI

Sachin Tendaulker made a brilliant 99 which was quicker than a run a ball to guide India to 9/321. Amazingly this was Sachins 5th score in the 90s in the past 5 months. Even more incredible was that 3 of them have been 99s. Gambhir made 57 as well, these two were followed by a string of 20s and 30s.

Ahktar got three for Pakistan.

Now chasing they are currently 1/47 after 7 with Akmal the man out.

I Cant see Pakistan chasing that down to be honest.

Funny game cricket, 6 months ago alot were saying the Tendaulker had had his day, well since then we have seen the Little Master back to his best. Absolutely love watching him bat when he is on song, just makes things look so easy

Well i was wrong, Pakistan managed to chase down 321 with one ball to spare. India will be disapointed they could not take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Younis Khan made a brilliant 117 of 110 balls to guide them home with no other batsmen scoring over 50, (Two or three forty and thrirties). No bowlers really excelled with the most economical going at 5.3 an over.

Great win by Pakistan.

In the test match, New Zealand bowled Sth Africa out for 226 with Gibbs scoring 63 being the top score.

Shane Bond took 4/73 while Danny Vettori took 2/26 from 18 overs.

In reply NZ are 2/41 at stumps, with Fleming unbeaten and Bond the night watchmen. NZ have never won a test series in Sth Africa and this will be their best oppurtunity. Saying that NZs batting line up is very brittle and unless Taylor and Fleming make runs then expect NZ to be bowled out for a similar score to Sth Arica.

I dont know what it is about Sth Africa but i love watching test cricket over there, bit in it for bat and ball.

Watched a bit of this and it appeared to be very 'Kiwi' like conditions yesterday. There was plenty of moisture in the air and a bit of swing in overcast conditions when normally Joburg is almost like Australian conditions. Sunny, good batting deck...Adelaide comes to mind.

These teams are very evenly matched. One thing that continues to amaze is that Amla is still playing test cricket. Has anyone ever seen this guy make runs? His technique is bloody awful! Kicking myself for not selecting Bond in my Hogg Shield team but the bastard keeps breaking down so I don't trust the guy!

In the 13 odd overs before stumps I saw one of the most lethal spells of new
ball bowling I have seen in a long time.
Dale Styne bowling at a consistenly frightening speed of about 145kms was almost unplayable
Swings the ball away from right handers has a fast bouncer and sconed CUMMINGS
in the helmet as well.
He had FLEMING plumb LBW but it was given not out
Has 50 wickets at 30 odd in Test Cricket and at 24 years of age has a big career coming up.

Scores indicate NZ are well in front but with STYNE/NEL/NTINI/KALLIS I think SA
will bowl NZ out cheaply enough and can still win this test match.

They get bugger all to Test Matches over there in South Africa; but plenty go to their one dayers. That sort of crowd was what people thought would happen here in the 80s, but thanks to the dominance and attacking nature of Australian cricket, that's far from the case.

KALLIS has made 800+ runs in test matches this year at an average of 80+
From what I understand he has not made a score of less than 10 in all test innings in 2007
Imagine going through a year of test matchs without scoring below double figures?

He is simply a great batsman.

No.

He is one of the best allrounders we will see but no way is he the most valuable player this millennium. He simply doesn't take games apart like some others are capable of.

and West Indies are in a bit of trouble trying to chase it down 3/118 from 32. Nedd over 8 an over from here on in. Chanderpaul not out 65.


Are Pakistan trying to run India into some form before they arrive in Australia? Stumps on day 1 in the first test and India have notched up 3/352

Ok hes due to come in next. If the pitch is as flat as it sounds then he should find some form as well.
