BODYLINE 2007 ADELAIDE OVAL LA.....

REMEMBERANCE DAY 11/11/07

Today I witnessed something suspiciously close to Bodyline bowling.
NSW allrounder LAMBERT mid afternoon bowled around the wicket.
His field was short leg , fine leg, and a backward square which changed
to deep backward square depending on the batsman.
LAMBERT bowled around the wicket at the right handers and bowled swiftly.
He bowled close to 75% of his deliveries above chest height aimed mostly at the body.
At one stage he hit MANOU several times in one over.

One very irate spectator yelled out for Katich to stop the bodyline crap.
He also yelled out it was MANOU batting not BRADMAN.
The spectator booed on several occasions.

I think it was overdone but within the laws of cricket although not in the spirit.
But he did bowl fast today and had the SA batsmen fractious.

The same thought did cross my mind today when he was bowling to Ferguson/Adcock.

If you are a non-recognised batsman (Adcock) doesn't law 42 come into play????

Of the batsman who faced the intimatory bowling.
FERGUSON played safely and well.
ADCOCK was jumping around and was beaten several times.
DELMONT hardly faced it.
MANOU was battered and bruised.

I witnessed and Heard Dougie Bollinger give his own colourful advice back to the "the very irate spectator"
Same Bodyline tactics were also applied to Cullen who fell to a catch in slips fending off a ball from his throat.

Would he prefer noone bothered to turn up at all?

I hear they allocatae one spectator per player now, to chat with throughout the day.

Advice given to the Heckler in the Bradman Stand from The Alien was to Basically keep ya Trap Shut or Else!
To which he was Reminded that as Paying Spectators we were entitled to our $2 worth of sledging. :D

The great LAMBERT bowling leg theory managed to get the number 11
custodian Dan Cullen with a ball at his head.
The good fast bowlers BOLLINGER/BRACKEN just bowled norMALly and got wickets.

Funny what opposition sides do when they don't have to face the fastest bowler in the country the next day

Or using your bat.

Was good to watch. I had no problems with the bowling.

Thats right! I wonder if Lambert would have applied the same tactics to Shaun Tait if he was out there at no. 11 instead of Cullen!

Tait would have most likely killed him \:D/
