After the Adelaide United match at Adelaide Oval it was suggested that the State Soccer League is more popular and better supported than the State Cricket League.

Darryl Hair is - was one of the very few umpires on the circuit that would call a player for "chucking". The result is that he is now no longer umpiring and it is rumoured that other umpires are as a result afraid to call players for chucking, so that is then enabled to go on.

South Africa then choose players based on the colour of their skin and not their ability.

Then the Indian team have a neutral umpire removed after making a complaint then using standover tactics in order to get their demands met.

Will Cricket ever recover from this? Most probably not......

Mind you it wouldn't be the first time a team has disputed the appointment of an umpire to a Test match and got their way.

On the 1973 tour of the West Indies, Australian captain Ian Chappell objected to a certain umpire (Vifthuis I think his name was) being picked to officiate for the final deciding Test because of what he thought were dodgy decisions he gave against Australia in other Tests during the series. There was a big argument over it and the West Indies officials gave in.

Some may say this was different because the neutral umpire system didn't apply back then but the principle is the same.

Chappell was the original Ugly Australian. Funny how he can criticise others.
