There has been a players for the Redbacks this season who have really dominated and a few others that haven't. The one's that haven't I feel as though the depth of district cricket is not good. I am really talking about the batting - there are not a lot of players making lots of runs at district level (apart from Deitz, then he can't deliver at first class-level) Apart from Boof and Cosgrove this year the rest of the batsman have been very inconsistent. Even before Elliot got injuried, he was not making a lot of runs.
The rest of the batsman need to stand up - Blewett (only 1 score over 50 in 13 innings), C.Borgas (1 century well done son, but only 170 runs in 10 other innings), Deitz (only 1 score over 50 in 13 innings), Fergusson (3 50's in 15 innings but nothing over 65).
Lehmann 1068 runs at 97.00
Cosgrove 627 runs at 64.00
Fergusson 429 runs at 33.00
Borgas 310 runs at 28.00
Blewett 270 runs at 24.00
Deitz 268 runs at 20.61

I think you can see the problem - If Boof and Junior Boof fail nobody else stands up.

We have two games left. I don't think we will get a pura-cup final cause Queensland is 8 points ahead but I reckon we are still a great chance of making the final. Here is my team with only two games to go in batting order.

G.Blewett - needs to open and show leadership.
J.Borgas - Deitz and Cameron have both failed let's give him a go.
C.Borgas - I do like him and if his brother was in the side might go a lot better.
D.Lehmann -
M.Cosgrove
C.Fergusson
G.Manou
M.Clearly - adds depth to batting and good bowler.
J.Gillespie
D.Cullan
S.Tait - just pushes Rofe out due to pace and the X-factor.
D.Harris - 12th Man - would have straight in for one of the Borgas's if they struggled.
P.Rofe and C.Bailey are very unlucky but what great depth in bowling we have.

Ben Cameron (2 centurys at for SA 2nd 11 come on son deliver at first level) and Shane Deitz are just not upto it. Even Nathon Adcock is past it. - These three boys will struggle to hold their contracts.

Yeah our batting has been very inconsistent this season, it cost us dear against Queensland after our fantastic bowlers put us in a very strong position.

Some interesting numbers there. Something has to happen, for me Blewett should be dropped. That will put everyone else on notice. I would also look at dropping either Borgas or Ferguson, only because there appear to comfortable in the team at the moment and need a bit of a shake up.

Cleary has to play, the bowling depth is good so some players will feel unlucky to miss out.

CA, I've agreed with that suggestion all season, however I now think the ship has sailed, it needed to happen earlier and isn't going to teach much with only the two games remaining ... He needs a rocket over winter and told that his appearances next season will be purely based upon his own output!

I've always been a fan of Blewy's, but it's hard to believe this is the same guy who plundered a masterful double ton in South Africa all those years ago ... Just wonder whether he still has the passion to be playing at this level??

I tell ya, if we ever produce the solid underrated Nobes, Bishop types again I'll be much more appreciative than I was back then given the lack of local talent (batting-wise) we've been unable to unearth in the last 5-10 years ...

Blewett's feet stopped moving a long time ago and anybody who knows anything about cricket knows just how important it is to have good footwork when you are batting. You wouldn't drop Blewett to teach a lesson, you'd drop him because he is no longer good enough.

Yeah no doubt he has had a better yeah, but still needs to be more consistent in my opinion.

Thanks for all your great personal attack. Obviously living North has affected you.

Rofe is a very good bowler and apart from Sunday in the final Tait has not dominated since returning from injury.
J Borgas why not give him a go - not many other players are making runs at district level.
Clearly - well he has made a century and is not a bad bowler.

Agree about the situation with the batsmen but I think Ferguson is better than he has played this year and is still only 20 (?)
Apparently there is a few more lads on the way up that are in the 16-19 year old age bracket that are very highly rated.

What about giving Tom Plant a go at the top? He made a ton in the 2nd 11 the same game Cameron did, backed it up with a ton for Glenelg the next game and has also already made a first class ton last year. Why did Deitz get his 15th chance at this level??

Forget it boys it's all over. Qld will cream whoever goes up to the Gabba to play them in the final. They have lost, what, the last three finals at home now..no way are they going to make it four. The only real chance to knock off the Bulls is if Kaspa joins Haydos in South Africa, this would put a lot of pressure on Bichel and Noffke and actually make force them to use the donkey drop spin of Hauritz.

After last year's one wicket loss expect experienced players such as Perrin, Love and Maher to make life difficult for whoever it is that has to go up there to face them. SA probably has the best attack to deal with this batting line up but doesn't have enough run makers to get them to the dance.

Victoria's four point buffer gives them the edge but for mine it's the Bulls Moo Moo this year.
