Greg Blewett media statement
Following the announcement today by the SACA of the West End Redbacks team to play Western Australia, Greg Blewett has issued the following statement regarding his omission from the side.
“I am obviously disappointed to not be selected, but understand the reasons why I was omitted. And, I am looking forward to getting back to club cricket and getting plenty of runs for Kensington.â€
“I am very grateful for all of the support I have had today, and will be following the Redbacks match with interest hoping they can get outright points against the Warriors,†he said.

Blewies return this year has not been great but how do the selector keep on digging up Deitz?
He can't score runs in the 2nd XI.

Why drop him? Sure, if there was someone dominating in district cricket or in the second XI, then sure, bring him in, but the person who has been making runs in the second XI (Adcock), hasn't come in to the team.
Did Trever Hohns make this call yesterday? Sounds like something he'd do.

He really doesn't deserve his place in the team but who is going to take his place..? Loose this game and its all over. SA must win. Would you gamble him. Should have been dropped before now unfortunately. Has been a great player for SA. Great players come back..! Go SA...!

Luke Williams has made nearly 600 runs at 90 in Grade cricket this year and is the leading 2nd X1 run scorer ever for SA. Not too old and should have been given a crack before Deitz.

No way. Williams has proven time and time again he's not up to it at state level. He was given his second chance over 2004/05 and blew it, when he was in his peak form at grade level.

Giving someone 3 games is not enough chance. He had to pull out of the final game last year due to a knee injury after making a session long 39 vs the Vics with Warne, Lewis, Denton, Wise. He has the ability to bat for long periods of time and maybe produce bigger scores than Deitz's regular 10's and 20's.

I have never understood why when Deitz is in the team he can not keep, and drop Manou. I know his glovework is not to the same standard as Manou but he is more than capable talking ot people in the know. I realise he couldn't open but no reason why he couldn't bat at 6 and play 5 bowlers.

No way!
The way we bat we need all the batsmen we can get.

Yeah fair point, I just don't really count Manou as a batsman.

Agreed, Manou is more along the lines of a traditional wicket-keeper, by where they are there mainly for their keeping skills, and can occasionaly throw the willow. There is no doubt he is a top-shelf glovesman.
We need him there just to keep to the bowling of Tait!

I too am gobsmacked that Blewett is dropped while Dietz is still in the side and I've said Dietz has had enough chances before. There must be a higher plan in this but it eludes me right now.
