IPL Update

With the IPL player auction tomorrow 13 Australian players (Former and Current) have signed with the 20/20 comp.

They are

* Nathan Bracken
* Adam Gilchrist
* Matthew Hayden
* Michael Hussey
* David Hussey
* Simon Katich
* Justin Langer
* Brett Lee
* Glen McGrath
* Ricky Ponting
* Andrew Symonds
* Shane Warne
* Cameron White

The three suprise omissions that have decided not to play are Mitchell Johnson, Brad Haddin and Michael Clarke. I think it is a good move by all these players. I hope Pup can stay fresh for a long year of cricket and the same goes for Haddin and Johnson.

A couple of teams might pick up a couple of bargins in Katich, Langer and especially White who is a brilliant 20/20 player because they may fall down the pecking order with the likes of Gilly (Who will go top dollar or Lee IMO), Punter and Symonds.

Interesting day ahead.

Do you think Symonds incidents with India will affect his price? As well as Lee's popularity over there may increase his?

White is the best 20/20 player in the domestic tournament in England by a fair margin and will do very well so i would be very happy to get him at this price (to scale obviously) if i was a team manager.

no English players involved apparently as it clashes with their county season

No nomination from Nugget Reece? How much is he worth in the dressing room?

Initially it will, but then they will love symonds once he starts playing for a side.

As for whites price, I think he will be a real bargin!

The Australians that have been bought.

Symonds- 1.35 Million

Warne- 450 k

Matthew Hayden- 350 k

Punter- 400 k

Brett Lee- 900 k

Gilly- 700 k

* MS Dhoni went for the most so far and that was 1.5 million

Some of the sub cons are ridiculously overpriced, $900k for Harby, $1.1 million for Jayasuriya. What a joke.

MS Dhoni is way over priced, he is no where near that good.

It is about marketing as well as playing ability and that would have helped Dhoni a lot.

All the other "Icon Players" (Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin and Ganguly) all get 15% increase of what their highest earner gets.

He may be thinking of nominating in the ICL rebel league.. I doubt he would get a gig in the IPL anyway.

Looking at that list, Matty Haydn was genuine value

You also have to take into account that some International players may not play at all in this series because of National dutie and that is another reason why some players are being sold for less.

So much for Cameron White not being worth much, he went for a whopping 550k IIRC

Pathan also broke the million dollar mark.

Andrew Symonds has topped the bidding in the IPL. Now in totally unrelated news, Symonds has decided he will not take part in the Pakistan tour due to worries about financial security..er..I mean security.
