Just hope they've put on some sort of fitness regime - cough cough

Good to see that a mountain of runs in grade cricket means Jake Brown get's his chance to make his debut against Queensland.

Perhaps they used one of those helicopters with a six blade saw hanging underneath?

Hopefully he gets himself fit and in form, be good to see him in full flight (without fear of him landing on someone).

All for rewarding grade form but IMO plant should have got the nod- has been a consistent run scorer for several years and has made 2 first class 100's. is only 24/5 so age not an issue

Good to see Delmont back in the side. Hopefully getting the axe gives Cossie the wake up call he needs.

doubt it, how many wake up calls does he need, IMHO his first class career at least in this State is all but over unfortunately, so much talent but so little discipline :(

Fear you are right locky. Cossie has as much talent as he does excess kilos but seems unwilling to listen to advice and do the work required to make the most of that talent. Real shame but lets hope he can prove us wrong.

Should have got his chance at the start of the year after he made the 125 against Sri Lanka, then 175 in second 11 again followed up with an unbeaten ton for Glenelg. Unfortunately for Tom he is now out of form ATM after a 1 & 0 in the second 11 game just gone in WA. The persistance of Elliot cost him his chance and it will not surprise to see him try his luck with another state.....

At the risk of setting off an atom bomb I fear that you guys are focusing too much on Mark's weight. I agree that he could be lighter but its the first class bowlers in this country that have worked him out and bowl specific areas to dismiss him. A recently retired SA bowler also has this veiw.
A classic Example earlier this year NSW bowler Mark Cameron targeted the rising ball aimed at his ribcage in a FR game. Cossie took one on the elbow and missed the next Cup game.

I think you are right about bowlers sorting him out, but the fact he hasn't been able to bat longer than 2 hours this year - i.e he has got set and is seeing tehm relatively well tehn gets out. That screams fitness issues to me both in a physical sense and as a secondary consequence he can't maintain his concentration at the required level.

Plant had a chance to impress a few years back but didn't do much. He scored a ton against Sri Lanka, and in a state game a few years back, but i think its certainly a good time to reward Brown who's in great form. The selectors basically know what Plant can do, but they dont know what Brown can do at this level, and hopefully he can translate District form into some type of Pura Cup form.

The wake up call he needs? What?

"Hi Mark, its Rod Marsh here, you've been told to leave the preseason training camp for the manner in which you presented yourself"

"Hi Mark, its Tim Neilsen here, you've been sent home from the Centre of Excellence because you're a slob"

How many more does he need Rod?

"Hi mark, its <insert name of selector with some balls!!!> here, your over weight, not making runs and not getting the point. You will not play for Aust, SA or even a SA X1 until you loose weight, make runs and change your attitude. By the way, your booked into fat camp, same one S.Dew went to"

Maybe something like that.

Fair point Booney. He was interviewed on the news last night and he was adamant his weight wasn't a problem  Don't think he'll ever see sense unfortunately.

*cough* *cough*, call Shane Warne's mum, but DON'T get caught :?

As Tas said earlier, sure he can bat being overweight, but as the innings grows then his
fitness comes into question...easy to see, except sounds like he can't...

IMO, if I was in his position I'd be Jenny Craig's best freind, would be visiting Lance
Whitnall at the farm, and hand my shares back to Fosters...

He can't even bowl in long spells like 6 or 7 overs like a few years ago.

The funny thing is if he does go away and lose some weight he will be lauded as a hero..
FFS its not like curing cancer. You get paid obscene amounts of money to play professional sport. Anyone not in condition to play the sport should get the same treatment as if I rocked up to work with 2 day stubble and my shirt hanging out- they get sacked. Rant over
