2ND TEST WI V AU

FIRST TEST SUMMARY

Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
AU won the first test
Its hard for international sides to win the 1st test of each series
Too often touring teams are underdone and lacking in match practice.
In the past AU teams have a good record o/s in the first test, mainly due to the freakishly great teams.
When sides come to AU were give them a trouncing at the Gabba
AU is still on top and have a tenious grip on the number1 mantle
With so many underdone and inexperienced touring players that 1st test was a worry

SECOND TEST PREVIEW

Welcome back an underdone Mick Clarke
Looks like Hussey might have to open so Hodge can keep his spot in the midde order
Hodgey is a good player of pace
The KAT would also be better suited in the middle order

AU will rely on the speedSTARS CLARK and his assistant LEE
If the WI can somehow see these 2 off then they could make a good total
History shows if opposition sides can keep the worlds Number 1 quick in Doc CLARK at bay they can make big totals
MACGILL /MJ needed the run 1st test and can improve this test

Examples of 400+ totals v AU since CLARK has played

EG 6/551.. CLARK 3/75
SL 410..... CLARK 1/103
IN 532..... CLARK 1/80
IN 526..... CLARK 0/92

THE CHAMP HAS
76 WICKETS
15 TESTS
20-77 AVE

Only 4 AU bowlers have had a LOWER BOWLING AVE in reaching 75 test wickets in history

Of the batting
we have 7 players capable of scoring runs
a couple of them usually do and we make the runs

MY TIP
AU in 4 days

Actually only 3 bowlers
Doc is the 4th

PLAYER...........................TESTS...WKTS.......AVE

CHARLES TERROR TURNER.....17.......101.......16-53
FRED DEMON SPOFFORTH......18.......94.........18-41
ALAN DAVIDSON..................44.......186........20-53
STUART DOC CLARK.............16........76.........20-72

Those stats in todays Advertiser Wed 28/5/08 page 79 [great article as per usual]

Clark has had his share if critics[and likers] in SAFOOTY
I am President of the Doc Clark cheer squad and have gone in to bat for him

They are absolutely phenominal figures for a guy who bowls 1st change
On that list without detracting from Terror + Demon, but they bowled in
eras of uncovered pitches and lots of low scoring test matches
The efforts of Davo and Doc are even better
For Doc Clark to get those figures in a batsmans world is even more notable

Also a mention for Binga Lee
Yes I was critisicing him not so long ago
But since the retirement of Ooh Aah and Warnnnnnney he has lifted his game to a new level

Why do people keep wanting to see Hussey open? Sure he has been a long time opener in first class cricket but he is ideal for Australia at 4 and has had enourmous success in that position. It ain't broke we don't need to fix it. Give the Kat another chance. After his 2007/08 season he deserves at least one more go.

its not that i want Hussey to open its that i dont want kat opening. and i think that hodge is a better 4 or 5. unless they open clarke. and you think after the way hodge batted in the first test he deserves another chance

Fair enough but i just don't think permanent members of the side should be shuffled around the batting order. With our best side available Hussey is at 4 and he should stay at 4 in this situation and have others (Katich or Hodge) plug the gaps. Same with Clarke. He needs to come back in and bat in his spot which is 5. I just feel that moving players around will only do harm to their form.

Could do worse although Katich is a better cricketer. Australian cricket is in good shape when guys like Katich and Hodge can't break into the side regularly. Both would play in every other side in the world and be amongst the first picked.

Then he can fail instead of Kat. Poor old Kat was never going to get all that many opportunities and might have dropped more than that sitter in the first test.
