Cant beleive Punter, were not exactly playing for sheep stations against the Bangers. But he still just couldnt accept the 3rd umpires decision as it went against them. He is not doing the image of Australian cricket any good when his carrying on got him on all the major world news, bbc, sky etc.
I have lost all of my support for him now. Time for a new captain!

There's ways to go about things. He went about it the wrong way, but ultimately got his own way (which is how it should have been anyway, minus the carrying on).

Are you talking about the catch off the foot ?
I thought the third umpire went FOR him ?

Ump went to 3rd umpire who had a good look at it, said not out then Ricky spat it and the ump overturned it

From what I heard there were issues with the third umpires "English" and they weren't sure what was being asked. Once the field umpires asked if it hit the boot or not, it was a simple OUT.
Unless I saw it wrong!

The umpires didn't have a problem with it, the match referee didn't have a problem with it. He was reported by Bangaladesh. Overnight the match referee changed his tune, no doubt from ICC pressure. Remember the batsman was originally given out, then the third umpire got involved and was given not out. Says more about the standard of umpire than about player behaviour.
As for Ponting being a disgrace, get off ya high horse. Deserved a warning at best. Storm in a tea cup.

If that's all it took you weren't a fan in the first place. Most test players would be arrogant, some may be wankers but test cricket is test cricket...in other words..SHEEP STATIONS.

Fine if ur just arrogant generally. But when ur captain of our country, role model to thousands of kids????
I see the kids at my club all trying to be like their heroes, next season, will arguing with the umpires and having a permanent scowl on their faces be the cool thing to do??

You are the role model duncs, not the captain of the test team. If you tell your kids that acting like Punter is not the way to go, you'll be surprised just how many would be prepared to listen to you. My lad went to a Bulls vs. Tassie game at the Gabba last season and Punter didn't come close to signing a kids autograph, even though many others did. Maybe he's just arrogant AND the captain of our country. Shame.

I'm with you Dunc.
The guy's a disgraceful advertisement for unsportsmanlike behaviour in an Australian captain.
He turned me off him quite some time ago.
I know a lot of people who think the same way but they can't comment....
Nothing you can do about it when they guy is personally playing so well.
Now you should know that you're going to be shot down in flames starting a thread like this.

It's the old 'role model' arguement again but agreed, Punter is not a likeable personality. Now, who would dare to shoot down a fellow poster on this forum Kiwi

Excuse me while I think back and try and remember an Australian captain who wasn't arrogant or unsportsmanlike. People even turned on Mark Taylor because of his GUM CHEWING in the end.
