Once again gutter journalism at its best, FFS leave the guy alone, I had a party here on the weekend with quite a few that are in the spotlight regularly who hells bells had a drink or two, seems different rules for sportpersons to media personalities that misbehave

From the news report tonight he got asked for a autograph declined and the bloke hit him numerous times and Roy then left and went to the team hotel.

I think Roy should be suspended for not hitting the bloke back .

The poor bugger doesn't need to be hassled whilst having a beer at the pub and well done to him for showing the restrain not to retaliate.

Hopefully it happened as you have described and hopefully nothing negative comes of it for Roy. I'm sure it will though

Symonds did nothing wrong:

The Normanby Hotel has denied that Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds was at fault in any way during an alleged incident he was involved in with a member of the public at the establishment on the weekend.

According to a representative from the hotel, Symonds was no more than a victim of the antics of an overzealous fan.

The patron in question apparently tried to hug and take a photo of Symonds with both attempts being declined by the 33-year-old Queenslander.

Following Symonds' refusal, the patron reportedly continued to harass the recently recalled Test all-rounder before being asked to leave by security for what it deemed to be inappropriate behaviour.

Symonds verified this version of events in a statement on Monday evening.

“A member of the public acted unreasonably towards me while I was with friends at which time I took steps to remove myself from the situation," said Symonds.

"The member of the public was subsequently removed from the premises as a result of his actions."

"I was sharing some drinks with other players and close friends and did not in anyway provoke this situation."

Cricket Australia confirmed that it was still investigating the incident.

"At the moment we're gathering more information, we want to better understand the situation," a CA spokesman said.

"As we understand it, the member of the public approached Andrew and there was an altercation after which the member was ejected by hotel security."

"Andrew was back at the team hotel by 9.30 or 10.00. Some other Australian cricketers were at the bar and we need to speak to those players to gather more information."

Regular Australian Cricketer imposter Shane Watson has been charged with bitch slappin Andrew Symonds. It is alledged that Shane asked for a photo and autograph of Mr Symonds. Shane was rejected this not being the first time it has happened to him
In response , Shane then lashed out and bitch slapped Mr Symonds in a jealous rage . Its is suspected that in the process Mr Watson has torn a fingernail and will be out of action for the rest of the year

2) Its not tall poppy syndrome- i just dont think cos he can hit a cover drive he must be a super bloke. Where there is smoke there is generally fire-

I reckon gilchrist and pat rafter would have been asked for some autographs in their time too

I don't think having a quiet beer is a crime, regardless of 'recent history'. He hasn't killed anyone. And while the guy might not be a brain surgeon he has really only hurt himself hasn't he? What has he done again?

Well **** me stumps, clearly the guy is a menace to society! Yeah, he's no Gilly or Rafter, but he's no OJ Simpson either. And tearing someone down just because someone is well known on the back of what gets served up in the media is a classic example of the tall poppy syndrome. Give the guy a break mate.

NFC is good value You have to admire his persistence. Stumps is entitled to his opinion as well and if he thinks Roy is a bad bloke then so be it but basing this opinion on sensationalised media reports is a bit much.

I know what your saying- and yes in the grand scheme of life maybe its not a huge deal- all im saying is I dont feel particularly sorry for him- we all make decisions in life and you pay the price for them. Not a huge deal from my end as much as it may appear otherwise
