David Warner or Shaun Marsh, who should be in the 50 over australian team
Marsh is in the squad, Warner is not, the selectors must make an obvious decision, one is a potential superstar the other on this seasons form should be playing Grade cricket
These are the records of both players this domestic season [hope I didnt miss any games]

Marsh

Sheffield Shield
25, 74*,5,30,1,15,16,1....167 runs @ 23-85

Ford Ranger
1[8]...13[13]...18[14]...27[42]...21[27]....71[123]..........151 runs of 227 balls s/rate 66

Big Bash
1[5]...31[19]...11[10]....25[22].......68 runs off 56 balls s/rate 121

Warner

Sheffield Shield
nil

Ford Ranger
31[35] batting at 7....0[2] batting at 6 then dropped[?] from the team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
then the reserrection after missing or being dropped for 2 games he returned as an opener
18[27]...165[112]....97[54].....31[20]....1[6]....343 runs off 256 balls s/rate 133

Big Bash
8[5]...28[22]...65[35]... 101 runs of 62 balls ...s/rate 162

International form this season

20-20 International
Marsh 9 [9]
Warner 89[43]

The final damning stat for Marsh
Ford ranger Marsh has made 151 runs in 227 balls in 6 innings
29th november Warner made 165 runs in 112 balls in 1 innings

Who should be the first opener picked ?
In my opinion he is not in the ODI squad [yet]

Bit of a reality check for Warner last night I thought.

Interesting to see what happens when International standard bowlers get a chance to do some homework beforehand.

Given it's 20-20 you can no more rely on his first game than last night in making an assessment. However, I think it shows that we need to be a bit careful with our expecations on a couple of our young (potential) guns around the country. The step up from state cricket is bigger than we sometimes think. Especially for Warner he has a lot of development still to do in First Class cricket.

Did Warner miss out last night? Must be time for him to retire then.

Marsh easily, easily.

Look at him today, and that was him coming into the game 'out of form'. I told you, get him at international level and he provides results. Marsh= future of Australian cricket. Get him into the #6 spot at test level ASAP.

If Marsh is the future of Australian cricket the future looks pretty bleak.

Well Done little swampy
Marsh's domestic season has been poor, But his International 50 over form is outstanding.
This is why the selectors stuck with him and did not groom Warner, round 1 to those selectors, and NFC is :D

Actually this David Warner hysteria would never have got off the ground had mid-on been about 2-foot deeper last Sunday for the first over of the innings. Warner's mis-timed thrash off Makhaya Ntini only just cleared Albie Morkel's outstretched (and very safe) hands.

There's no doubting Warner's skill as a big hitter but a little bit of luck can sometimes take you a long way in a short time!

He played a very ordinary shot when Steyn knocked his middle pole back at the Gabba on Tuesday.

At this stage Shaun Marsh is the better batsman by a fair margin.

A half century in a ODI means you should be #6 in Tests?

Some people have a little thing called foresight.

I reckon Shaun Marsh has done really well so far in the one dayers and I might have been a bit quick to bag him based on his Warriors form, or lack of it. Problem is, the guy has got into the high 70's twice and hasn't gone on with it twice. I reckon another 50 runs over those two knocks and the test spot would have been his. His inability to finish off might relegate him to 'one dayers only'. He really coughed up his wicket today in particular.

I'd have to agree. I'd leave Warner in for the rest of this series though and just give him the freedom to play naturally. You can't expect a young guy who hasn't even played a Shield game to consistently belt the best bowler in Cricket around the place. He copped a beauty today but he was trying to play a pretty funky shot.

I dont understand how Warner can get a game from two good performances in the Ford Ranger and one in the KFC Big Bash, surely it would be beneficial to give Hughes a game especially if he is to replace Hayden in the test matches. Gilchrist always said that being involved in the odi team before making his debut in test cricket helped him and made him feel comfortable from the first ball of his test career.

I have to say I was thinking the same thing when Warner walked off yesterday.

What worries me about Warner is if the demons start nagging him about his lack of first-class experience

It would take a confident player to put that behind him and feel like he belongs in International cricket

I'd hate to see us de-rail a great talent by putting OTT expectations on him too early. That first 20-20 innings could end up being his curse.
