If Jaques isn't fit then I'm still not sure they would rush in Phil Hughes. So that seems to only leave Chris Rogers.
HOWEVER ... I wonder with Hussey's form slump whether they might, in fact, look at switching him to open and using a D Hussey or a Hodge at at 5, with Clarke moving to 4 (Clarke's a bit wasted at 5 these days IMO). I have been against this move until now because the Huss has been so stable at 4. But now I wonder if all bets are off ....
M Hussey
Katich
Ponting
Clarke
D Hussey or Hodge ..... seems like a pretty strong line up to me (if Jaques is injured, otherwise see Rod-Rooster's team)

it depends how Taity goes in the last twenty20 and the 5 onedayers, he has put his hand up to play test cricket again!!! and if he has a good series against the South Africans, the selectors will almost have to take him, we need to take wicketsrod_rooster wrote:Jaques will get the first crack at it if fit. The side for the first Test will most likely look like this:
1. Katich
2. Jaques
3. Ponting
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. Symonds
7. Haddin
8. Johnson
9. Hauritz
10. Siddle
11. Clark
12th Bollinger.

Hughes for my liking. Time to pick a guy who is going to be top of the order for 10-15 years.
