I still cant belive Brad Hodge cant make the Australian team, ODI or Test, to me he is clearly one of Australias top 5 bats. I have made a poll to see who everyone thinks is Australias best batsman ( in all forms ), you get to have 4 picks from the batsman below.

For mine, the best Test batsmen, are Ponting, Clarke, Katich and Hughes. Views of CoverKing only!

Agree but change Hughes with North. Hodge a very close 5th.

If Hodge was 7 or 8 years younger he'd be in the Australian side, but he's not, so he isn't.

Bloke gets a knee injury and suddenly he cant play.

I put Callum Ferguson at least above, White, Bailey, Rodgers, Marsh, Voges and McDonald.

I agree with you AM re Ferguson

I think Hodge is now just as likely to score at test level as Hussey so went Ponting, Katich, Clarke and Hodge.

I fear the Huss will hold his spot though because selectors (or Ponting) can't seem to bring themselves to drop him; Ferguson is
injured and Hodge may just be too old. I do think Hodge has been unlucky not to play more for Australia and Hussey has been lucky to play as long as he has (given his extended form slump). He'll probably come out and score 3 tons and prove me wrong

I was really hoping the selectors would use the WI series to give Ferguson his start at test cricket over Hussey.

That list doesn't fill me with joy about our batting stocks.

Opps I edited the post to add C.Fergusson who I had left out. We will have to vote again as it wiped our previous votes

I did think there was a batsman missing. That was the one Callum Ferguson.

Altho i wouldnt consider him due to his injury, he is one that i think the selectors would have blooded in the WI series and Pakistan series to get games into them before the next Ashes series as i doubt Hussey will be there.

I still strongly disagree with Hughes omission and still think he is one of our best bats despite his young age

McDonald there but no D. Hussey or Haddin?

If you want the top ten then you won't get the answer from us only picking 4. Everyone will be the same 4.

FWIW my top 10 in order are:

Ponting
Clarke
Katich
North
Watson
Hodge
M. Hussey
Hughes (too early to put him higher IMHO)
Ferguson
Haddin

How can you have Watson above Hodge, He's only getting a game in Test cricket because he is the golden child,

This is getting beyond the joke Brad Hodge cant make his way into any form of the game for Australia, is clearly in the top 5 bats in Australia, he is probably in the top 10 bats in world cricket

cannot be serious about hodge being top 10 in the world. He probably would have got further in the aussie set up if he just could of kept his mouth shut and waited his time like hussey, north and lehmann did.

FWIW my top 10 in world in no particular order would include

duminy
smith
tendulkar
gambhir
chanderpaul
ponting
clarke
khan
pietersen
yousuf

and theat is still leaving out katich, prince, hussey, gayle and all of sri lankas list
