The cricket room has been a favourite room of mine since I joined SAFOOTY
I enjoy the insights of everyone, Im amazed at times how many good factual posts filter thru
We have the insightful who comment on the facts and stick to the facts
We have the exhuberant, the ones who go out on a limb with thier fastidious predictions
We have the special comments men with thier dry humour and sarcasms, always great reading
We have the dramatisers who like to spruce up thier posts to rivett others into discussions
We have some who are the occasional protagonists who like to correct when they denounce certian players/teams/aurthorities
We have the tireless scoring updaters who do a great job

This room is great becoz of the vast array of different contributors
Heres a few that when you see thier names on athread you just gotta hava gawk
I will do em in alphabetical order

TOP5

ADELAIDE HAWK ...Controversial, provocative, humerous, and a very special knowledgeable person
BROD...does a great job with his score summary updates, very low key poster, but admired by all
JACKPOT JIM...never afraid to voice his opinion and a shitstirrer, a fav of mine
NFC...the doyen of the predictors like another predictor , makes sweeping predictions that appear wrong on face value, but has a penchant to be right more often than he should
REB...special comments man extraordinare, dry wit at its best, very entertaining

Whats everybodys predictions for 2010

And a HNY

Have to agree Mal.
As a Newbie, i must say that REB & Adelaide Hawk stand out like beacons, on all topics, to me.

Adelaide Hawk: The Doyen, my Bruce Mcavaney. Knows everthing, but does not shove it in your face.
REB: Dennis Commetti, funny, insightful, intelligent yet most of the time toungue in cheek. (His choice of music could be better though)

Others i like reading: CoverKing, Booney, Madrooster. All Adelaide & Suburban Cricket followers.
A Mum is also another fav. The list is endless really, only jb gets my goat, and he knows it!

Good little topic here MAL as always.

The couple favourites of mine on here are... MAL, REB and Booney (both Western youth boys), and also BROD who is also a night time writer on safooty.

Love AH 's knowledge and banter, he really should replace one AJ GREIG on 9.

Both REB and RodRooster very knowledgeable on the game as well and post alot of great info and get discussions rolling

And MaL well MaL is MaL, always has a point of view and theres nothing wrong with that

But when you look overall, very good group of people in this thread, alot of knowledge and fun, I just pop in to add some crap which i do regularly but its all fun.

Look forward to the 2nd test

Geelong goes back to back
Redlegs make the 5
Morphie Parks to finish 2nd in cricket (not saying who to CK, Booney & Bloods), 14th in footy & 1st in Netball (Womens)
Queensland wins 3-0 over NSW in State of Origin :D
Commonwealth games marred by terrorism
Anthony Mundine fights Danny Green again, and flogs him unmercifully. (Unfortunately)
Sackings: Fuller, Verbeek, Mark Harvey, Nielson, Hilditch, 3 Pakistan Captains.
Success stories: Bassett, Bart Cummings 35th Melbourne Cup  , Israel Folau (back to his best), Seb Guilhas wins Magarey Medal :shock:Adam Scott wins US Masters, PGA & Open.
Biggest story: Tiger Woods out of the closet, all these women just a front. Real love is Phil Mickelson. ;)

Not sure about that.

Manou is clearly the best keeper in Australia.

As for his batting........well.............

Happy new year to all.

We saw the best of manou in the t20 with that ripper catch to get rid of gayle. The bloke is def the best keeper in aus. Goes to show you how tough afridi would be to face when manou is missing stumpings off him....at least he got the run out tho :)

Im sure I talk for all of the Cricket gang on SAFOOTY
Now that Watto has made a Test Ton , I can focus on other cricket matters

My New Years cricket wish
Cricket is a great game, it brings together a multi cultural congolomeration of players from several nations
My wish is that the Paki youngSTARS, Aamir +AkMAL get an opportunity to play International cricket on thier home soil

Im gunna adopt the Pakis as my 2nd favoured team after Australia
Im gunna make an about face on Internationals playing in OUR big bash and support the Paki boys over here
Afridi
Rana
Hope they both exceed thier expectations whilst here

Lets hope SA can get Younis Khan back for another stint as well

PREDICTIONS
KAT will play his last tests in 2010
Steve Smith WILL play in the ODI or 20/20 for AU [heez not ready for test cricket as a bowler]
AFRIDI to hit a six onto the Clem Hill stand
A wicket for NSW in the big bash to be Caught D Smith Bowled D Smith
Klinger most runs in the SS for 2009-2010

LONGSHOTS
Aaron Heal to play limited overs cricket for AU
Travis Birt to play limited overs cricket for AU
Phillip Hughes to get out LBW to a new ball bowler in a test match
Bayman to admit he has backed a loser in the cricket
Peter George to play Test cricket

I think so too.

We play 10 Tests this year and he would have to have a remarkable drop off in form to lose his spot and not forgetting we play Pakistan, NZ, Pakistan again and then England.

Can't see it happening IMO.

Heal is now the equal alltime leading T20 wicket taker for Wa, this despite his best bowling figures are only 2/15

I totally agree with everything above Mal. And a belated HNY to all!

My concern for the future of Test cricket outside the big 4 is such, that I wish the countries for who Test cricket is declining in popularity (both with the players and fans) all the success in the longer form of the game, so that it reminds them of how great it is to win Test matches consistently. Which is why I couldn't bring myself to fully celebrate Australia's amazing comeback win in Sydney the other day. I find myself more and more recently barracking for the game of cricket, particularly Test cricket, sometimes at the expense of barracking for Australia. If we're playing India, SAf or the Poms, forget about it, but I wouldn't mind seeing us lose the occasional Test v one of the so-called minnows for the good of the game. As both the Pakistanis and Windies have shown this summer, some amazing Test cricket talent lies outside the big 4, and I for one would like to see that talent into the future. Sorry to bore with the long post, but I wonder if anyone out there agrees with me?
