NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said:

“The NSP has rewarded those players who have performed so well for Australia in one-day international cricket over the last six months. This period has included impressive series wins in England and India, as well as an ICC Champions Trophy victory in South Africa. This summer’s Commonwealth Bank Series against Pakistan and West Indies is a chance for the team to continue that form as we move towards the ICC World Cup in 12 months’ time.”

“The squads for the first two matches of the Commonwealth Bank Series against Pakistan have been selected to ensure that as many players are available for the KFC Twenty Big Bash Preliminary Final on 19 January and Final on 23 January, whilst not compromising the performance and preparation of the Australian team.

“As a result, the NSP has selected a different squad for both games to try and provide the best possible coverage for the start of the Commonwealth Bank Series, with squads of 12 players chosen for these two matches.

“Mitchell Johnson is having his workload managed for the first three matches of the Commonwealth Bank Series and will rejoin the squad in time for the two ODIs against Pakistan in Perth.

“James Hopes has been selected for the Brisbane match with Adam Voges replacing him for Sydney. This selection has been made with a view to ensuring we have flexibility within the squad of 12 players to accommodate the different conditions at each venue.

Voges??
Surely we can do better than a 30y.o. with an average record

Fancy having to rest the best Australian bowler to decrease his workload
And some people actually think that bowling cricketers are not overworked in modern cricket

No surprises in the squad

Mal, that's one reason why we say they aren't overworked! ;)

They've been resting bowlers from ODIs for ages

His List A record is superior
2814 runs @ 42.00 (2 centuries and 22 fifites)

Also his actual international record is GREAT
ODI
162 runs @ 41.75
94.35 s/rate
T20I
63 runs @ 31.50
121.15 s/rate

I rate those numbers ;)

Got a think for Voges hey ;)

Yeah I do... OK decent stats. ;)
Would like to see a younger, better player in there.
Shattered Ferg is injured, would have been great to se him play in Australia this summer!

I agree with Fergie being fit, no way Voges is ahead of him, but he isnt, so Adam gets the gig ;)
