SA 2/71 just before lunch.
Klinger 28*
Cooper 7*
Smith and Harris failed again.
Surely Smith's gold pass has got to come to an end. Harris would almost be in trouble but probably has a few more credits due to a good past couple of seasons.

I think Harris has to go!
I would keep smith in the side! We really need to produce young state cricketers of our own! Keep smith and bring in another young opener, or even Cooper up the order!
I don't care if we have a year of pain if we get some reward in the future! What's one more year of pain after 15 years of pain in SA cricket

Its disappointing that James Borgas never went on with it after making a few scores in his initial games a few years ago. I'm guessing that there's no one in shield ranks who's an obvious candidate to come in as an opener, so that might save the incumbents.

The question has to be asked AGAIN why is he batting @ 6.
IMO Christian and O'Brien should be above him.
And dont get me started on 20/20 cricket cos he shouldnt get a look in!

Interesting.......Tom Cooper 52 runs 73 balls 97 minutes 11 boundaries. This is his first 50 in first class cricket yet Tom Cooper has 1 ODI century and 5 ODI 50’s playing for the Netherlands.

Only if they play at Port Reserve instead of Adelaide Oval. And if the opposition choose to play grade cricket bowlers instead of first class bowlers.

Correction it is Jason.
Made some scores late in the season a few years ago as an uncontracted player, Was rewarded with one the next season and played the first game next season. his brother gets a pair and Jason not much more and is never seen again at 1st Class level.
Tom Moffat from Sturt could be the next one to get a go. Bats in the top 3 for his club and has made a 2nd XI hundred this season.

I think a Klinger or a Cooper needs to open so we can blood Cranmer or Moffat in the middle order.
I don't think there are any other openers apart from Jason Borgas who are making consistent runs at grade level.

Thanks heater, wasn't 100% sure of his first name.

And on the name, Borgas, it looks as though the younger cousin, "Isiaah"??, hasn't come on as much as hoped either.

Cranmer? The same one who averaged 13 last season and about 27 this season so far?
Moffat would be worth a look though, I agree.

Yep, Izzy has struggled a little but I think given time will be a consistent grade cricketer. Higher than that I'm not convinced at this stage.
