FIRST ASHES TEST 25-29 NOV AT THE GABBA

Postby stampy » Sun Nov 21, 2010 8:36 pm

dunno about everyone else but what the hell is wrong with our cricket atm? the poms have come out, defeated WA at the waca - when was the last time that happened?? then they cleaned up the redbacks, no mean feat there, but then they make very light work of our 2nd 11. England a very warm favourite for not only here but the series, we are struggling everywhere, hoping like hell we can pull a rabbit out of a hat come thursday but current form says we wont

If we won the toss and bowled 1st we would've rolled them.

I'm going to the second and third days of this match and I can't wait. Really keen to have a look at England. I'm wondering if Chris Tremlett has bowled himself into the eleven. I haven't seen a lot of Finn but if he's ahead of Tremlett then our batsmen will have their work cut out for them. Funnily enough the bowler I believe is most vulnerable in this country is the bloke who is leading the attack Jimmy Anderson.

It's one thing to run amok with the Duke toy but he hasn't done as well with the Kooka on bouncier decks. I reckon Swan will make a name for himself out here and I think that Trott can give us some trouble where Bopara couldn't.

With the same old faces in the middle order (where we lost the Ashes last time IMO) I can see a 2-1 victory to England coming up in this series with some darn good CRICKET to be played along the way.

How much will the Umpiring boo boo in the recent first test IN V AU be ?
AU had a LBW decision turned down off MJ that would have given AU a 1-0 series lead in that ridicolous 2 test series
AU would have led 1-0
Could have came home 1-1 at worst
Instead the media has highlighted the International losing streak
And things have gone form bad to worst

Its been a while since AU has lost a Test at this venue
And the Kookaburra not the Duke will make a difference

AU will win the seies on the proviso thier best current Test batsman does not stuff up his back completely

PREDICTIONS FIRST TEST
IF AU bat first WATTO to make less than 10[ ireckon 0]
IF EG bat first COOK to make less than 10 [i reckon 5]
IF HUSSEY bats a while he will be hit several times in the hip to head region
CLARKE will top score most total runs in the test for AU
SWANN will struggle for wickets, will only take 3 or less for the test
DOHERTY if plays will take less wickets than SWANN ...
HADDIN will play a blinder of an innings and make a quick 50-100 innings

SERIES PREDICTIONS
MJ most wickets AU
CLARKE most runs AU
BROAD most wickets EG
SWANN almost most runs for EG

What about the poor decision that Sharma got dismissed on when he was well set, I think India were more ripped off than we were in that last session.

SHARMA got an absolute stinker
There were a few iffy decisons, dunno who benefitted didnt see all of them
Point Im making is that IF you forget about everything until the ball MJ bowled , then that LBW that was absolutely plumb and has had its ramifications ever since

On that LBW decision to the left hander
It would have missed off stump
It would have missed leg stump
It would have hit middle stump half way up
BUT
There would have been a doubt in the umpires mind :
1 The crowd might have rioted after the Sharma decision
2 India might have quit Test Cricket
3 The doubt in the umpires mind was perhaps the bails would have been dispersed everywhere, and then landed back on the stumps !

THIS SERIES
Looking forward to this series more than any other since 1972
Its becoz AU is under the pump, instead of being the belligerent dominating team of the previous 20 years or so
AU 3-1 this series

Think we will win 3 tests and the poms maybe 1 but more than likely a couple of draws. Love it when the poms get too far ahead of themselves.
This has football wc written all over it. England have the squad to win blah blah and they ultimately get humiliated

We have to take 20 wickets to win a test match.

We will play 4 quicks. Win the toss and bowl first poms wont bat the day out. I just have this massive feeling we are going to pump them. Poms getting a bit too cocky, they are a much better side when they are not saying anything.
My predictions for series
3-0 aus
Johnno leading wicket taker
Kat leading run scorer

X makes his debut and does what Krazy did- minus the wickets...

My doppelganger, Strauss, and Collingwood hit centuries, Prior blasts a bit, and they get 500 declared.

Broad, Anderson and Swann roll Aus for under 250, S Finn hardly bowls, Huss and North both fail.

Aus follow on, Swann takes a bag, but we somehow make them bat again...

10 wicket win to Eng. Swann MOTM.

That's a little obvious considering we named 5 of them in a 13 man squad and one of them opens the batting.
