Team for Perth

I know there is a couple of days to go, but here is your chance to select your team for the 3rd test in Perth, without the opportunity to take into account the upcoming shield games.

Watson
Hughes - if Katich unfit, otherwise Katich
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
The Ferg
Haddin
Smith - Doherty not up to it, cannot dry one end like Punter wanted him to.
Harris
Siddle
Bollinger

NB - Clarke on last chance, 4 seamers (Watson included), Smith only because there isn't anyone else, but wouldn't suprise to see Hauritz recalled to bowl into the Doctor.

Go to it.

Look the reality is we will probably go to Perth all tied up with the help of a bit of rain next couple of days. No need to panic, yes where getting outplayed but things can turn around quickly, we should of had England 2 - 20 here, if we took our chances it could of been a different story.

Watson
Cowan ( If Kat unfit )
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
North
Haddin
Harris
S.Clark ( Bowl into the fremantle doctor, add needed experience )
Hillfenhaus
Siddle

12th Hauritz

Was all for Bollinger to play in Adelaide, but he did look underdone, bowled poorly and at times was only bowling around the 127kph, back to NSW for a couple of games.

Watson
Cowan (Katich is clearly not fit... we can't carry injured players if we want to win the Ashes)
Ponting (Time for some runs. Stand up Captain)
Hussey
North
Haddin
Hopes (We can't bowl them out at the moment, why not have an all-rounder in the team?)
Harris (Only bowler bowling well in this test, besides maybe Watto and North)
Hilfenhaus
Bollinger (Should be pretty good on a WACA wicket)
Siddle

Clarke, much like Johnson needs a bit of a break from Cricket. Send both of them away to get them refreshed.

Watson
Hughes
Ponting (c)
Khawaja (Clarke needs extended rest)
Hussey
Ferguson/ White
Haddin
Smith/ O'Keefe
Harris
Siddle
Hilfy

12th: Cameron/ Johnson/ George

Time to look at youth as we have good young players but need a chance even if they fail, just show faith. Interesting when we return to england the team could look like

Hughes
Watson
Khawaja
Clarke
Feguson
White
Paine
Smith
M.Marsh
Johnson
Starc
Hazelwood

Squad players George, Maddison, Wade, Boyce, O'Keefe, Cowan

I agree with this side except for White.
Hasn't been in great form of late, but would offer experience I guess.
I'd be more inclined to give Fergy or the Muslim a go.
Got nothing to lose I reckon.

Would only have to last 1 ball to do better than kat or ponting. As long as the top 3 can bat out the first over and give me time to put the pads on. :D

I am happy with REB's team. But with Hughes only averaging 22.80 this season I assume he's only coming in for injury to Katich? If so, I agree.

Watson
Katich --> Hughes if injured
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
North (home ground, need to see how he goes in the second innings in Adelaide)
Haddin
Harris
Siddle
Bollinger (needs to perform at Perth)

Bring back Hauritz I think. I don't think Smith or O'Keefe are ready. Smith has only taken 2 first class wickets all season! Hauritz 11 wickets at 23 makes me feel far more comfortable. If Smith isn't even up to first class bowling standard England will cane him and laugh their heads off at us in the process.

Still happy to keep Don North in the team mate? Chuck Hughes in there aswell with his stellar record of late.

As I posted above he's only averaging 23 with a highest score of 48. I think he's the next in line if an opener gets injured but Ferguson (av 55) or Khawaja (av 68.5) have the next claim on a middle order spot IMO. I don't think Hughes is that special that he just goes anywhere in the order. Remember too how the England bowlers stitched him up in England.
