I am 20 years and am wondering how good do you have to be to play County cricket, as i am looking to move to England next year, i have noticed that a few people have from the league i play in now are playing County cricket, one is also playing Lancashire league? Does anybody know???

cant be varied the better you are the better the deal you will get.


most avergage grade cricketers (A,B,C or D) look for assistance in airfares, accomodation and part-time job.

although i havent been over yet im looking to go in the next 3-5 years once ive got uni out of the way and some experience in my field of employment.

Can anybody else tell me anything about county cricket, lacashire league? is it hard, what qualifications do you need? The amount of pay? sponsourship? ANYTHING??? please anybody

lancs is a very good standard i believe with players with First class experience mainly from india,pakistan and the West Indies
you can use a website to find potential clubs but ive forgotten it for the moment ill pm you when i find it

Depends where you want to play mate. Some leagues are really strong, with their overseas players generally 1st class level. Playing in the stronger leagues brings with it an expectation to perform, as most clubs offer good $$$ for their players. County is the top level, followed by minor county and then the premier division in each county league. The quality of leagues varies greatly between counties. Those up north tend to pay well and attract high profile players. Others can be more like country leagues here.

However, there are literally hundreds of leagues across the country that you could play in. Like heater said, most clubs (no matter how small) will try and organise you at least a part time job. Most clubs also offer to pay flights and accommodation if you're a reasonable player. You have to consider that most leagues allow only 1 or 2 OS players per side, so clubs are looking to get value for money so to speak.

What sort of standard are you playing here? I thoroughly recommend the experience. I went over in 2002 when I was 18 and am heading back again next year. It's a great way of seeing another part of the world and making some good mates.

As is mentioned above it all depends where you play and what standard you are. The better the player the better the deal obviously. I would think, at a minimum, you'd need to be a solid B grade performer to get your airfares paid and help with accommodation and finding a job - and more importantly to perform well for a club. Last thing you want is to be the o/s player who is shyte.
One thing is for sure though - whatever deal you get it will be an absolutely brilliant experience.
I spent 96 and 97 playing in Leceistershire and had an unforgettable time. Still keep in touch with the club and a lot of the lads.
