I've heard a few clubs are struggling with player numbers either playing PL or away on holidays etc.

Why didn't they play the PL game last weekend?

They did!

Heard they limited the PL teams to only taking 6 from each Club. Hence Alex Carey playing for Bays as he would have been the 7th.

From the last game? Or 7 in total including your redbacks players (Trav?)

We have have 5. But only 1 of them will be missing from the last game. 2 are playing today and will be available for the weekend. The other 2 have been on state duties with redbacks & u/19 teams and didn't play last game.

Have had more issues with players unavailable....

The Force have picked 2 different sides for Games 1 & 2. Game 2 side has their Redbacks in the team. Unfortunately Alex has not been in good form and with an average of 5 after 6 innings would have been hard pressed to push for a spot in a full strength squad.

Outback boys pretty pleased to have Tait in the side but for only one match, few things promised to us for this comp (alex hales, jon holland) to make us a bit stronger but they have been shipped out to the adelaide prem teams as they are not strong enough. would have through ferguson, raphael, lawford, lehmann is a good nucleus without hales. Anyway.

Have also heard that the initial 3 year investment in this competition may end after this season.....

There are a few issues.

Have heard the Grade cricket committee are putting together a significant proposal to the Board that would probably cost just as much as this competition each year.

IMO, PL will expand to 8 teams and as a result grade cricket becomes redundant, loses the support it gets from saca and the comp folds. The remaining clubs will be absorbed into ATCA.

PL wont expend, as it is some players selected play fringe A grade at their grade club.

So if a 6 team comp has fringe A Grader's who the hell are a 13 tean comp using to fill their teams.
I hope they do expand to 8 teams and do away with grade cricket

Who cares, meaningless competition anyway

I assume there have been huge celebrations in the Eastern suburbs to celebrate the wonderful achievements of the "Edge" over the past two seasons...
