Ponting has signed with ten rather than 9 as a commentator

And heard Adelaide aren't going to sign Pollard this year and will Sign Alex Hales instead.

Might as well move this to this thread:

Perth Scorchers announce a number of signings for the 2013/14 BBL season:

The Scorchers today confirmed it had signed Adam Voges, Shaun Marsh, Mitch Marsh, Patrick Cummins, Ashton Agar, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff and Tom Triffitt for the new season.

The Jellys better sign Pollard & Tait now that it's on Ch 10, I need some reason to care about the Strikers.

They will sign tait but with Botha the first OS player only one more can play and Hales is available for the whole tournament

The Ashes are on and you are talking about this manufactured horseshit. Where have we gone wrong?

Yeah, because the Sheff Shield is attractive to our next bunch of aspiring cricketers.

Without 20/20, kids aren't interested, and then they won't play cricket, and then cricket will die. FACT

That last statement is not a FACT
We have seen by the TV ratings from the 1st test that the longer format is alive and well.
Kids will see through T20 for the gimmick it is and many realise its about as real as WWE.
I have a 15 year old son keen as mustard about cricket and he has very little interest in the T20's but has stayed up every night watching the Ashes.
I went to pick him up from the local oval yesterday and there were half a dozen kids from around the neighbourhood having hits in the nets and they have been doing this every day since the Ashes began

Look at the bums on seats domestically. You cant argue that it doesn't generate more interest. Yes its crap, and yes it is effecting kids techniques generally, but you cant argue with the gate takings.

Everyone watches the ashes and gets enthused about the ashes. The kids that are cricket fanatics (like Jims) will love cricket in its pure format, but for many 20/20 has increased awareness in the game of cricket.

=D> very well said!

99.9% of kids do not have the attention span for test/shield cricket - 20/20 is the extreme most important format in the sport for enagaging base level grassroots cricketers (i.e. kids from non cricketing famalies)

Ignore 20/20 at your peril, it's actually entertaining if you don't let your 1960s attitude get in the way

IN a coup for the Ten Network, cricketing great Sir Viv Richards is joining the its burgeoning Big Bash Twenty20 cricket commentary team for the coming season.

News of Sir Viv's signing comes amid news Ten is chasing former England captain and Australian cricket nemesis Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff for the commentary team, with Flintoff confirming in reports today he was "thinking about it" .

Ten is throwing big dollars at the Big Bash at the start of the calendar year, with much riding on it becoming a platform for the rest of the year's programming schedule.

The network has already signed big dollar contracts with Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Mark Waugh and Damien Fleming.

Twenty20 ruins player's techniques. Look at our test team - horrible yesterday! That's why India, South Africa and England are moving ahead of us, because we play stupid Twenty20 and they don't.

Also kids will get bored of Twenty20 in a few years. Kids don't age a year every year like adults do, see? They stay the same age every year, like Peter Pan.

20/20cricket is played in all countries blaming this for technique issues for australia is hiding the fact that other countries dont have the same problems.Good technique will help in all forms of the game, good temprement seperates good players from success& failure.

I love cricket, I'll watch whatever is on.
T20 provides entertainment with innovative shots.
One-dayers are quite strategic and have a good blend between defensive and attacking strategies.
Test matches/Shield are like a game of chess where patience and perseverance wins out.

I'm not cricketist.
