Have done in the past but since DRS has been used the numbers would of dropped. Any coincidence India refuses to use DRS?

I would say the recent Ashes series is a fair example why.

Outstanding career, been a pleasure to have seen Lara, Ponting and him live. I rate Lara slightly above him for a number of reasons.

Best 3 of the modern era mate. I to loved watching Lara play but The little master is the best batsmen I've ever seen.

Viv is the best I've seen. Gilchrist, Lara, Tendulkar, Ponting and Hayden are not far behind.

Best cricketer I've seen is Shane Warne and the biggest waste of talent is Mark Waugh. Mark Waugh was the most elegant bat I have ever seen and to this day when he commentates and condemns ANYONE I laugh. Bloke had the ability to average 55-60.

Biggest waste of talent, your surely joking. Only reason he averaged what he did, because when he got to 100, he would try and lift the scoring rate, because his brother and company would bat so slow, he also isn't bat for not outs, just to boost his average. There are a lot more wasted talent then M. Waugh.

The only reason he averaged just over 40 is because every time he got to 100 he would up the scoring rate? That does not make any sence what so ever....

My opinion and its shared by many is he was lazy and to play as many tests as he did and have a HS of under 150 with a bloke old his sheer talent is a massive waste of talent. Got himself out on way too many occasions.

But single handedly won or drew a lot of tests on decks that nobody else could bat on. I agree he had the ability to score more and average 50+ but not everyone can be a flat track bully. Steve could score runs on those decks, Mark was in the team to score runs when everyone else ran out of talent.

Not saying he couldn't play because he was definately world class. I'm saying he was an under achieving bat who had the ability to be Australias best modern day batsman.

That was my understanding of your post.

There's no doubt that Mark Waugh had more talent in his little finger than what most blokes would have in their entire body, but for someone of his ilk to only average in the early 40s at Test level is astounding. Someone of his true calibre should have averaged in the mid-late 50s, in my opinion.

Junior has always been likened to a Rolls Royce: There for prestige, only to be rolled out when needed. Most definitely not your vehicle for everyday use. But that's not to say he was afraid to get dirty; His efforts in the 4th Test against the West Indies in 1995 will attest to that.

Steve Waugh had a shitload of talent, perhaps not as much as Mark, but relied a lot more on grit and defiance to make his runs a la Allan Border. To this day, Mike Hussey is the only one who comes close in regards to excellence in batting with the tail. Of all the players I've been fortunate enough to watch, I'd easily have Steve Waugh bat to save my life.

I do with though, that both the Waugh twins had bowled more for Australia. Bloody injuries...
