Silk is quality, should be earmarked as Rogers replacement if he doesn't get a go before hand

Is in his 7th first class match and got a pair last match. Yeah he must have some ability, he just scored his 3rd ton, but come on...

Let him prove himself over a few seasons.

Agree with this post but let's not wait until he is 35 either. (Not that you are suggesting this btw)

I agree he is probably not ready for test cricket and its a bit early. BUT imho his the best young batting talent in Oz

I think the biggest problem Australian test cricket has at the moment is that there is no direction in where the team is heading.

I respect Chris Rogers just as much as anyone but at the end of the day we will NOT win these Ashes whether Rogers plays or not. The cold hard fact is his position in the side is just a stop gap and delaying the fact we need to find our next long term test opener.

People will say you play your best eleven, put simply the best eleven is not good enough and I challenge anyone who can 100% confidently say they know what the best 11 Australian test side is. Playing your best eleven isn't going to work when if your captain goes down you are going to have to debut a guy to captain or vice captain the side.

Can anyone confidently say we know who will be the next test captain in a couple of years when Clarke retires due to back pain.

With the current lack of direction that is being shown we will be ordinary for the next 10 years.

You never like to 'gift' people test caps but isn't that what we are currently doing with blokes like Hughes, Watson, Cowan, Maxwell etc

People said very similar things around 1987 and 1988. We seemed to go ok in the 90s though.

Looks like officials are finally taking some action on cheats. Wade suspended for 1 Shield game for deliberately tampering with the pitch.
