Don't care what Clarke is like off the field he is a fierce competitor on the field and wears his heart on his sleeve. Anderson loves to give it out but doesn't like to receive it. I have a feeling it probably stems back from last ashes series as nearly every Aussie player was giving it to him and Siddle gave him a massive send off!

Shake hands like they did and play on! Bring on the 2nd test!

Yep that mongrel is what has been missing, ever since the Indians had a sook a few years ago we tried to be nice but its not the way we play our best cricket.
Great to see it back
Suck it up Carey, Clarke will continue to dish it out to Anderson as will all the Aussies, Im sure they are also telling him he is no good with Kookaburra in hand either

Well said:

Former Australian star Matthew Hayden reinforced the feeling between the sides when he tweeted "Couldn't have happened to a more miserable bunch of cocky Poms."

Keep in mind one Test in England was lost by 14 runs and two could have gone either way but for one or two moments where the Poms made the most of their chances.

The writing was on the wall in England that they were very "getable" with some pace in the wicket, or pacemen who bowl 140k+ and are in form.

ie - Dale Steyn ripped through them like Johnson did.
PAFC. Forever.

im glad that Johnson is back in the team

I feel he should've been given more of an opportunity as an allrounder

love the sledging!!

Anderson - come on buddy, you gotta take it if you are gunna dish it

warner - not a big fan of his personally, but its good that he said Trott was no good the other day, adds a bit more tension to the series + he is a character, but he needs to back it up consistently with the willow
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

I thought that Anderson had a bit to say to Bailey when he was batting and Bailey returned serve at short leg. Anderson had a sook and that kicked it all off. As was said above, it was about being able to dish it out but not take it.

It's great to not have to make three changes after a test. We must keep a settled side and let them play all series. For once we haven't made a baffling selection in the first test of the series in regards to our slow bowling option and players in form were picked. It made a massive difference. The top order is still a worry for mine as Rogers looks out of his depth. They should stick with him this series to develop a sense of team but that should be all for Rogers.

After that we can have a look at Faulkner and push Watson back up to opening. That will give us multiple bowling options so we don't have to use Siddle, MJ and Harris as workhorses. If we can win the series early, bring back the rotation policy for the bowlers and give them a rest especially Harris with his track record, step up Messrs Pattinson, Bird and Starc depending on who misses.

In the future I see Jordan Silk as a top order hope but probably not for a couple of years. Let him develop at the Tigers. He has shown already he can build an innings.

Botham summed up the first test pretty well:

"Welcome to Australia. And guess what, there's no red carpet for you to walk on, unless it comes courtesy of blood from a cricket ball," Botham wrote in the Daily Mirror.

"There are some things that never change about coming to this country and I think the current crop have been given a brutal reminder of what it takes to be successful.

Courage and bravery are two traits that are a must here, as well as fight, skill, patience and aggression."

He described England's performance as "ordinary, verging on embarrassing" and added the inability to score more than 200 in either innings was "failure on an epic scale".

Very valid points.
I would look at changing the bowling attack for Adelaide though, if the pitch is a disgrace like it has been for the shield there is no point wasting the quicks, id play another spinner and rest Harris or Siddle and get them cherry ripe for Perth

He didnt look too stressed giving Watson a send off a couple of days ago.
He was pretty chirpy over in England aswell.
Has a couple of innings where he craps his dacks against MJ and he is on the next plane home.
If he is going to give out lip he has to cop some in return

As much as I was giving it to the Poms mental weakness yesterday the last thing you want it for it to effect a bloke in day to day life. Been there myself in the mildest of terms and its not a nice position to be placed in and no professional Test Cricketer would make that decision lightly.

Poms are not in a good spot however and have lots of work to do. If they are not 100% in their response they will get done. As Beefy said the red carpet doesn't exist in Australia and Australians unlike 90% of the rest of of other nationalities in the world will tell you to your face exactly what they think and if you don't like it then bad luck.

Love to see what the official stats of test playing nations @ home are. We talk about the sub continent being a tough place to play. Australia is tough too....
