I have theories why he gets out LBW so often
Is it because he is almost unbowlable ?
Because he gets in line , NEVER shirks the issue, he increases his chances of being LBW
When was the last time Watto got bowled in Test cricket
Should we call him Shane Walltson ?

Wallston with a good 2nd innings knock could be the leading runscorer in the series
That's not bad for an allrounder batting top 3

It's a technique issue

I remember listening to Viv Richards once at a clinic when I was a young lad. The point he kept making was that cricket is a 'side on' game both batting and bowling.

Any times a batsmen gets 'square' he becomes a sitting duck.

The example Richards used is when in your stance at the crease your feet should be pointing towards point. When driving your back foot should always be pointing towards point or at most covers.

In Watsons case he plants the front foot and both his back and front foot end up vertically towards the central umpire. His body turns square and his a sitting duck, if he misses the line by a few centre metres his stranded.

WHUFC
He used to get bowled a fair bit earlier in his career
He then started covering his stumps to stop getting bowled
Now he is getting out LBW almost exclusively compared to bowled
So , well answered it is a technical fault as much as anything

But give him credit , he has batted well enough in this series , and he has only been out LBW once in just under 350 runs

Wrong.

He was dismissed almost twice as many times LBW as he was BOWLED in the early part of his career...

He has batted very well and personally I'm not to fussed whether its first innings or second innings.

I still think his technical fault means he won't be a long term answer at number 3 especially on pitches that do a pitch and when the ball will swing and seam a tad. Philander and Steyn will be pretty comfy knowing Watsons coming out at 3

Just had a look at the upcoming fixtures and due to the Big Ba$h we do not get to see any more 4 day cricket before they jet off to S.A. So they will be picking the squad based on form from 2 months ago, or from mickey mouse cricket...

Most people are saying Doolan, but he is only averaging 39 from his 5 matches. I know he was good last season, but really that doesn't count for much as we have seen with Bailey hitting runs (albeit in a different form of the game)

Hughes has 550 runs at 61, so would be very stiff to not make it if Doolan does. (As a Redbacks supporter I hope he doesn't :P)

Haddin needs 45 more runs to pass the most ever runs by an Australian Wicket Keeper in a series (Gilly with 473). Most ever is 606 by D Lindsay from SA...

Given the way the series has panned out, you almost feel like, while we've not scored generally enough runs, the Poms will find it hard from here. They'll find a way to stuff up.

Bailey averaged something like 20 in the shield last season so that shows how much weighting the selectors place on other forms of cricket. From what I can remember he didn't do too well in the shield either this season in the couple of games he played.

Bailey test career:

Vs Pace - 68 runs @ 13.6
Vs Spin - 70 runs @ 70

And if you remove that mickey mouse 2nd innings in Perth his Average vs Pace drops to 5.80

Not a test cricketer...
