Won't be shorter than Roy Park's Test career.

So , well answered it is a technical fault as much as anything

But give him credit , he has batted well enough in this series , and he has only been out LBW once in just under 350 runs

Wrong.

He was dismissed almost twice as many times LBW as he was BOWLED in the early part of his career...

Wattos mode of dismissals starting from todays innings going backwards[should be reasonably accurate I hope]

17 LBWS
6 BOWLED

Since the last time he was bowled he has been out LBW 7 times and not bowled

Not sure If I'm wrong Phantom?
Point being he used to get bowled often enough in his first half to three quarters of his career
To eradicate that he now covers his stumps more the last 2 or so years or about last 25% of his career
Hence 7LBWs in a row and no bowleds

Back to the original point
If he eradicates Bowled from being a mode of dismissal
It increases the probability of being dismissed more LBW and Caught

You indicated that he used to get bowled earlier in his career then he started covering his stumps to avoid getting bowled.

My point is that LBW was already a common mode of dismissal early in his career before and during the bowled phase.

Understand he doesnt get bowled these days, and hasnt for a while, but the LBW issue is as prevalent as ever..

Watson's issue is he doesn't punish bowlers for getting onto the stumps. Most top class test batsmen see balls on middle stump as easy runs. Watson sees it as danger. If you let a bowler keep bowling at the stumps they'll get you eventually.

Haddin with another great knock. 5 tests, 5 first innings 50s. I can't imagine anyone wanting better when you realise that his keeping has been near faultless and each time he's scored runs we've been in trouble. Somewhat strange time and manner of dismissal though. I just wonder whether he was in two minds about attacking or taking the easy singles the POMs had given him.

Smith needs to go on here. I don't mind your number 7 counter attacking out of trouble and making 50s, but you bat 5 you have to go on with it. No need to panic with the way our tail has gone all series. 350 looks good, 400+ not out of the question.

Watson can't punish the bowlers for getting on to middle because of his technique.

Instead of staying side on where he could then flick it onto the leg side he plants the foot, squares himself up and can only hit the ball five metres either side of the bowler.

His technique means its nearly impossible to work a ball through mid wicket to square leg unless he gets an inside edge

As much as you can take from cricinfo, it seems the boys have really set themselves to target stokes this match. Hurt his bowling and hopefully his batting falls away as well.
Stokes' Economy rate was over 5.6 when haddin fell.
Haddin and Rogers both got out playing aggressively against him.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Well done
I never had confidence in East Coast Smith becoming a good Test cricketer
But he is convincing me
Had a hot or miss series but has stood up twice when the Mercury was on under pressure
May not have a long career , but he has surpassed my expectations already

I can see your point PG
Case of looking at this in different directions

To further my point
In a few innings in the sub continent he played a long way back on the backfoot and was getting trapped Bowled and LBW
The newer Watto now plays across and forward
It eliminated Bowleds but increased his LBW dismissals

Has not been bowled in his last 25 innings
