How often has the AB Medalist not collected either the Test or One-Day award?

Mitchell Johnson well deserved winner.

He has brought something back to Cricket, that spell of his at Adelaide Oval during the test on a batters wicket was unforgetttable and I cannot remember a crowd being so engaged in a spell from a fast bowler for a long time!!!!!

As good as his ashes series was, has he seriously been the best australian cricketer consistantly over the past 12 month period????

I tend to agree, had a great Ashes series at home, but for me Haddin has had a superb 12 months, he was strong in England and in Australia.

I agree that Johnson was good at the end of the season but not throughout the year, Michael Clarke was more consistant throughout the whole year. Was Haddin in the team at the begining of 2013? Thought Wade was still in the team.

Thats why Clarke won the test player of the year. Johnson had a real solid year in the ODI's aswell and I think too much weight is given to the shorter form. Test votes should be atleast triple that of ODI's and T20's.
If Clarke had played just a few more ODI's he would of won it

Ditto,

I get the feeling Channel 9 have asked Cricket Australia to create their own version of the Brownlow medal. It just doesn't work for Cricket

That's beciasenitnisnt anything like the brownlow. It is the equivalent of a club best and fairest- there are only 4 or 5 people that can win it in any year. The brownlow equivalent would be the ICC player of the year or similar
